The Wandering Desert Preacher: April 2015
http://thewanderingdesertpreacher.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
The Wandering Desert Preacher. Saturday, April 11, 2015. What is your message? Paul found himself standing in front of the Governor Felix defending his behavior and message. Felix was very interested in what Paul had to say because he had studied the Christian faith as well as the Jewish faith. The writer of the Apostles of the Holy Spirit summarized Paul’s conversations with Felix in the following words:. You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you'" (Acts 24:25). Our culture is like a...

The Wandering Desert Preacher: I am not qualified!
http://thewanderingdesertpreacher.blogspot.com/2015/08/i-am-not-qualified.html
The Wandering Desert Preacher. Thursday, August 6, 2015. I am not qualified! What qualifies anyone to serve the Almighty God? Who does God use? The reality is God specializes in nobodies. I think of some of the people who seem to make the greatest impact for God; they are not anything that this world would choose. Then I look at the disciples Jesus chose and I realize that God specializes in choosing people with pretty thin resumes. Here is St. Paul’s perspective:. Ronald Friesen © 2015. Death, O death?

The Wandering Desert Preacher. Monday, August 10, 2015. St Paul reminds us that followers of Jesus are known for their friendship of the most unsavory this world offers for the sake of the Good News:. 8220;I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. Ronald Friesen © 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). There Is A Time.

The Wandering Desert Preacher: January 2015
http://thewanderingdesertpreacher.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
The Wandering Desert Preacher. Saturday, January 31, 2015. What is your choice? As the early church continued to spread the Good News of God’s forgiveness, the church continued to grow. St. Luke summarizes this growth in this manner:. 8220;God has granted repentance that leads to life” (Acts 11:18). To repent is to have a change of mind. Of course, the question must be asked, “Change of mind about what? Chapter of the Acts of the Holy Spirit – do you worship Caesar or Jesus? Ronald Friesen © 2015. A few ...

The Wandering Desert Preacher: April 2014
http://thewanderingdesertpreacher.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
The Wandering Desert Preacher. Friday, April 25, 2014. Living in the Shadow. The picture is of people running down the street fleeing a huge cloud of dust and smoke. It is a photograph burned into my mind of September 11, 2001. The cloud of dust and smoke created a giant shadow over the panicking victims. Many people live in shadows: some of their own making, many of them created by life around them. It is tempting to live our lives under these shadows, feeling we are going to be overtaken any minute.

The Wandering Desert Preacher. Friday, August 7, 2015. Where is the truth? For followers of Jesus, discerning truth is an important part of their lives. There are several principles that guide the follower of Jesus. Here is St. Paul’s instruction:. 8220;The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? There is a Spirit that is searching for truth wherever it can be found especially the truth of God. A Little Bit of Class.

The Wandering Desert Preacher. Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Have you ever been really angry? No, I mean really angry. So angry that you wanted to see babies thrown on rocks and their bodies smashed? Well, not sure if I have ever been that angry. Been pretty angry in my lifetime. Here is the Palmist expressing his anger over being hauled off to a foreign country and enslaved:. Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is the one who repays you according to what you have done to us. Monday, June 2, 2014.

The Wandering Desert Preacher. Friday, August 28, 2015. In the concluding words of St. Paul’s first letter to the saints at Corinth, we read these words:. Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love” (I Corinthians 16:13-14). The above words as timely in the 21. Century as they were in the First Century.
