There were no strings or frets on the neck of the bozouki and he was busy polishing the mother of pearl inlay near the hollow. His bozouki burned in an apartment fire and a replacement cost $3,000. The harbor is full of local fishing boats, so we won’t dispute the claim. We wander a few side streets, Ellie and I taking time to admire the local flora. I recognize the oleander and bougainvillia from my childhood living in south Texas, but I’ve never seen them so heavy with blossoms as I have on the Greek islands.
