Tony had his laryngectomy following radiotherapy in 2009. He is married to Maureen who is a constant support to him and has 2 stepsons. Tony and Maureen joined their local laryngectomy club in Amersham a few weeks after his treatment and in 2012 was asked to take on the role of chairman, at the same time they started to attend the NALC meetings.
