Lassen Volcanic National Park. Sept 3 - 6, 2004. Sulfur Works is thought to be the remains of Mount Tehama's central volcanic vent. It is in the middle of the Brokeoff-Diller-Pilot-Conard circle of peaks that are thought to define the flanks of ancient Mt Tehama ( see map. Stinky hydrogen sulfide fumes were bubbling up from underground. Geochemical and microbial activity. Sulfur chemicals and microbial growths made colorful patches on the hillsides. End of trip.).
