Gustatory adventures in New York City and beyond. Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Thai Elephant 2 (Patterson, NY). In a way, this mixing of styles and cultures is a reflection of the kind of food served here. Its Americanized Thai, largely devoid of pungent fish sauces, hot chilis, fermented crab and the like, but some of the food has surprising flourish. Posted by Michelle Eats. Links to this post. Gustatory adventures in New York City and beyond. Monday, May 27, 2013. Pazzo Revisited (Nantucket, MA). It's been a year since we were last at Pazzo. And if anything, the restaurant is even better than it was, before. The space and staff are warm and friendly, always bustling, but never brusque. Food is seasonally and geographically appropriate, without being predictable. At a recent dinner, a seasonal composition of chilled asparagus. Rabbit Rillette with Toast Points. A main of pan roasted duck breast.

Gustatory adventures in New York City and beyond. Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Recette Check-In: Brunch (New York, NY). Pain Perdu With Earl Gray Milk Jam. It should come as no surprise that brunch at Recette is served in the same decadent spirit as the whole lobes of roasted foie gras with deep fried chicken skin. On a recent weekend, a PB&J pain perdu with Earl Grey milk jam and fresh strawberries. Posted by Michelle Eats. Links to this post. Saturday, March 9, 2013. The Marrow (New York, NY). Golper and W...

Girl Eats City: Wilfie & Nell (New York, NY)

Gustatory adventures in New York City and beyond. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Wilfie and Nell (New York, NY). Inside, Wilfie and Nell has the look-feel of an authentic pub. In some corners, there was the distinct, sour smell of spilled old beer, absorbed year after year into wood. The rough-hewn wooden tables were probably reclaimed from somewhere, but they felt velvety and old, nice to run one's hands over. The bottles of HP sauce (85 pence! We only tried one cocktail, the Bramble. 4) Potatoes were Idaho...

Gustatory adventures in New York City and beyond. Thursday, February 28, 2013. Asiana Noodle Shop (Burlington, VT). Vermont isnt known as a particularly happening place for Asian food. Cheese and other dairy products, yes and yes please! Maple syrup, yes. But sushi, samosas, bulgogi, Thai curries and Asian noodle soups? Probably not so much. . Posted by Michelle Eats. Neta Check-In (New York, NY). Kanpachi with King Mushroom. Its a rare restaurant that inspires you to experience food on a more-than-visceral level, that involves your mind as much as it does your tongue, nose and eyes. Momofuku Ko does it. WD 50 does it. And Neta does it. Posted by Michelle Eats. Links to this post. Hurricane Sandy...

Gustatory adventures in New York City and beyond. Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Red Farm Check-In (New York, NY). The kitchen, however, is more hit or miss. Ill confess: As someone who has set, possibly narrow-minded ideas about how Chinese food ought to be made, I have a hard time really falling in love with the (intentionally) Americanized Chinese food at Red Farm. But I can recognize that whether I like it or not, much of the food is well made from high quality ingredients. Posted by Michelle Eats.
