Good Luck, Have Fun: March 2013
http://jcorama.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Post Traumatic Spring Break. Thursday, March 7, 2013. In the Burrows and Above the Clouds. Two weeks until opening night people. . . . two weeks. In other fantastic news, Jane McGonigal came to speak on campus. She wrote the book Reality Is Broken. Explaining that games may be the very thing that will help with humanity. A good read with fantastic scientific support about the current research of game influence, and how it's almost entirely positive. A game, and those. Dear Esth...

Good Luck, Have Fun: EAE Day Prep
http://jcorama.blogspot.com/2014/12/eae-day-prep.html
Tuesday, December 16, 2014. We worked on a tutorial on behest of our last guest who came to our class. After much deliberation, we ultimately decided to scrap the tutorial level and just throw players into a sandbox to play around in with circles to push around. This gives a good clean environment to get used to the controls. After that, the player can jump into the turtle boss and fight. The way we made decisions in the beginning of this course was wrong to me. Our group voted on everything. I did not w...

Good Luck, Have Fun: Reroll or Double Down: Round 2
http://jcorama.blogspot.com/2014/11/reroll-or-double-down-round-2.html
Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Reroll or Double Down: Round 2. I created a boss for our swarm units to fight so the programmers had something to sink their teeth into as soon as possible. Here's the document:. It's a pretty basic boss. It has some dancing from death zones, some play between taking a risk to get more units or playing it safe, and theirs some danger when your swarm gets so big it's tough to dodge everything. One of the other designers is putting together one that is more complicated. Last D...

Good Luck, Have Fun: 3rd boss woes.
http://jcorama.blogspot.com/2015/02/3rd-boss-woes.html
Monday, February 2, 2015. We spent half a sprint exploring this option, but I'm glad we're killing it now then stretching this out over several sprints trying to salvage it. There just isn't the time. In addition, GDC is slowly creeping up on us and we need both bosses working to show there. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Good Luck, Have Fun: February 2013
http://jcorama.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 28, 2013. 6 lbs 13 oz delay. I needed to take a small break away from the Mars project and all things around it to work on another project:. The group in the meantime has worked on the Game Design Document. This is the first time that the group has done something without any input from my end at all, though large portions of the GDD are comprised of previous documents that we've done, to put some context to it. 1) Anything inside of Blades Edge Mountain in World of Warcraft:. Your swor...

Good Luck, Have Fun: September 2014
http://jcorama.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Our group pitched where we were at to a practice panel today. It could have gone smoother. Monday, September 29, 2014. Some of the designers in the group got together this weekend to discuss what we liked and didn't like about the trajectory the project is going. We liked the idea of the swarm. We liked the idea of not being in total control of it. However, having two states felt too simple for us to play around with. So we explored more options. Wednesday, September 24, 2014.

Good Luck, Have Fun: December 2014
http://jcorama.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 16, 2014. The game was received very well! Roger and Bob both said that several industry people came to them and talked about the potential that our game has. Woohoo! It's exciting to hear things like that. We had a celebratory dinner afterward to go over the event. Overall, this was a big boost for our team. We're going to have a good break from our project, have a party, and meet up sometime over break to see where to go from here. People do not feel that they are being heard when I g...

Good Luck, Have Fun: April 2013
http://jcorama.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 3, 2013. We turned in our project at its alpha state yesterday. The few days leading up to it were stressing me out because the information that I had was out of date, and people were implementing sections up until the very last minute to turn things in. But upon looking at where our game is at, especially in comparison to others, we're doing sorta ok. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Currently attending University of Utah pursuing the EAE degree.
