Monday, 27 May 2013. Here are some recent and not so recent pictures of our family in the past month. (you can click on the pictures to make them bigger). Joel celebrated his first birthday on May 11th, he needed a bit of help blowing out the candles. Not nearly as bad as Chloe when she had her cake. All kids love to play here! Monday, 13 May 2013. Last week the Grades 2 and 3s went to the Sugar Cane Museum to see how sugar use to be made from sugar cane. The whole process before electricity was quite an interesting sight to behold. The children learned a lot from what they had seen. Moving to the first part of the tour. The bell that was used to tell the slaves that the working day had begun. Getting notes for the potential quiz later at the school. The machine used to crush the sugar cane. Grade 2 and 3. Wednesday, 30 January 2013. A friend of mine took some pictures of groceries in the States and I took some pictures in Haiti to compare prices. We decided to do a blog on it to show you how much more expensive it is to buy food in Haiti. Haiti products are on the left all the time and I have converted the Haitian gouds to US dollars. Thursday, 27 December 2012. Busy first week with Mom and Dad Beintema. We have been quite busy here in Haiti with Mom and Dad Beintema. We went to the beach; had a Christmas service; had fireworks at Dr. Eds; had Christmas dinner at Uncle Randy and Aunt Karen's; went out for lunch with Julie and Gerrit VanWagenen and Heath Peters; played a lot of corn hole and many more things.
