http://latinamericabicycletripperucordillera.blogspot.com/2009/01/blog-post.html

Peru - Cordillera Blanca and Cañon del Pato. The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Jan 10, 2009. We were dropped at the bus station in Huaraz, and waited for our bikes, hopefully arriving on the next bus. There are always problems with putting the bikes on a bus, a stressful operation. An hour later they arrived; no harm done. We quickly found a nice hotel room, with fantastic views of the snow white mountain range – the Cordillera Blanca. Huaraz, from our rooftop. We we...

Peru - Goodbye

http://latinamericabicycletripperugoodbye.blogspot.com/2009/02/blog-post.html

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. January 17, 2009. We woke up at 04:00, in our tent, pitched on a roof, on top of a small house, overlooking the small village of Vinzos, the last 'safe' village, before Chimbote, coming from Cañon del Pato. Everybody warned us of Chimbote, the most dangerous city in Peru. "You must enter before 12:00, noontime; after that it's dangerous! PS - it was a shit-hole. Sunrise, from the roof. Vinzos. We arrived to Todd, a Warm-Shower. Membe...

Guatemala

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. May 30, 2008. The few cheap hotels that Rami went to check were built of patches on patches of added rooms and floors, each with its’ own architectural style. Claustrophobic rooms with 2 beds, a lamp, a million mosquitoes, no fan and no window. Around $5 – tempting, but no thanks. We were tempted to stay, but the shitty hotels made us continue. La Mesilla - a real border-town. From our hotel roof. Cooling ourselves in a waterfall.

Honduras

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. June 13, 2008. Border formalities were quick, a small fee that took us by surprise, that´s it. The euphoria of leaving Guatemala was so strong; we had this stupid grin and a nice downhill. At the border we met Yehonatan, the Israeli motorcyclist we met 3km earlier. He was on the first day of his trip to South America, and just left Guatemala City, after working there a year in security. In the morning we all went to the Maya ruins&#4...

Nicaragua

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. June 25, 2008. Everybody warned us that Nicaragua is hot! But how can it be? We´ve been so long in mountains with perfect cycling weather, except for the rain. But they were correct! The moment we crossed the border the clouds disappeared and it was hot. We thought of staying, we were even invited to crash in by the owner of the internet café (a Bulgarian) but we felt we´re way behind our schedule and Colombia is waiting. A biologist...

Mexico - Pacific Coast

Mexico - Pacific Coast. The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Apr 5, 2008. Back to cycling 27/02/08. We didn’t give San-Blas the attention it deserved. We just arrived the previous day, noontime, found a charming old colonial hotel (cheap) and enjoyed the live atmosphere of the town. At 22:00 the main plaza was still alive, with food stalls, people and music. Pacific Coast Road – Carretera 200 28/02/08. We reached the Carretera 200, a classic cycling rout through Mexico&...

Panama

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Jul 23, 2008. Welcome to Panama 10/07/08. We crossed the border - a decaying wooden bridge, over a huge river, only 1 lane and 20 trucks waiting om both sides. Crossing it was an adventure; just don't drop anything. We passed through border control quickly and reached the lively (compared to the Costa-Rica sleepy towns) border town. We were surprised by the Chinese family owning it and a whole. Everything was super green. We entered ...

Peru - North East

Peru - North East. The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Dec 26, 2008. The remote border of La Balsa, was nor more than a few crumbling buildings. Passport control was quick for Rami, but not for Gal, who was waiting in the sun, in the terrible heat. The friendly immigration office changed some money for us, not trying to reap us off, as opposed to the nearby shop. The old wooden border gate. It made life difficult for Gal. Thanks for the bananas. A wet, muddy day. While...

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Tuesday, January 15, 2008. You may find this post not as interesting as others, if you've found any interest in other posts. This post doesn't tell about wild adventures in exotic countries, with funny toilets. it is dedicated to all the people who helped us in Israel and California. Last time in "Our Bicycle Trip". Lost in Israel 11/11/07. We started cycling out of Haifa, but, after 20-30 minutes Gal said the Israeli driving is not ...

Mexico - Sailing

The Latin America Bicycle Trip. Back to the Latin America bicycle trip. Feb 26, 2008. It was late, 11:00, so we went to the big, modern, American-style supermarket, to buy food for 4 people for 4 days, while Kip was arranging last arrangements. 12:30 – we were ready to move. Chuck, our 4'th wheel (which could have been our 5'th) didn't show up, nor call. The 3 of us drank a shot of rum, toasting to Neptune, and we were off. Toasting for Neptune - Salud! And slept our first night on board. The sea was ang...
