We're Not Gonna Take It
We're Not Gonna Take It! We're Not Gonna Take It. Is an interactive public art project that allows you to record your own protest songs using the telephone. You can create a song about issues you wish to protest (such as corporate globalism, your landlord's poor repair record, or bad produce at the supermarket). You record your song by using the telephone like a karaoke machine, singing along to rock music. Your personal protest song will then be delivered to the politicians of your choosing. Call the lo...

Lecture Series
Buildings, Communities, and Pods. The Lecture Series is an experiment in education, entertainment, and art. We throw lectures that cover topics such as horticulture, graffiti, and housing. Lectures are accompanied by drinking, and hands-on activities that have included an animation station for making your own videos; dream analysis; and a natural history museum. Most of our lectures are held in an undisclosed location. In Portland, Oregon. Three Lectures and a Funeral. Sunday, March 7, 9pm at Reed. Serie...

Is a performance, that uses zoo architecture as a lens to explore a wide variety of topics including nature, freedom, spectatorship, identity, and our complex relationships with animals. The interdisciplinary performance blurs the genres of PowerPoint, documentary film, and VJ culture, producing a unique synthesis of education, humour, and technology.

Is a slide lecture that explores freedom and individuality in human and ant societies. I performed the lecture in my recent tour of Eastern Europe at Futura in Prague, Hints in Budapest, What, How and For Whom in Zagreb, and ACC. In Weimar. I also have performed the lecture in the USA at PNCA. In Portland, and CCA.
Prosthetic Ass
http://www.latteier.com/prostheticass
Click on thumbnail image to see full size picture. Prosthetic Ass in Action. Science Faire at the Old Lab, Portland, OR. I built a chainsaw-powered walking machine called the "prosthetic ass". It didn't walk very well. Still, it was named Best Prosthetic Ass in Portland. I used a chainsaw because of its centrifugal clutch. This was supposed to help with the large difference between engine RPMs and the leg crank RPMs.
500 lb Potato Battery
http://www.latteier.com/potato
Click on thumbnail image to see full size picture. 500 lb Potato Battery. I built a potato battery out of 500 pounds of potatoes. It powered a small sound system. With the help of the Red 76. Crew I installed the battery and sound system in the back of a U-Haul truck and drove it around town inviting people to enter the truck and take a listen. Don't eat potatoes after using them for a battery.
Calculator Haikus
http://www.latteier.com/calculator
Click on thumbnail image to see full size picture. Viscount Ballroom, Portland, OR. I created two haikus using upside down calculators. Legless eggshell oozes oil. Hellish shoe is beige. I slosh soil, slog hill. Hobble, oh high heel. You can form words with a calculator by entering numbers and then turning the calculator upside down. Each number except nine corresponds to a letter. Use the number 7734. To make a word that ends in O. You must use a decimal. For example, to spell HELLO.

Latteier Family
Friday, June 6, 2008. A Short Biography of Richard (Dick) Latteier. For UPT Class 68E Reunion, August 2008. I should begin by saying I was almost in class 67D. Unlike many of our classmates, my ROTC experience (Navy) lasted only one semester. I had no time for it. During my senior year, however, it became apparent that I would not escape the military. I applied for and was accepted to both Air Force and Navy OTS/OCS followed by pilot training (class 67D for the Air Force.). At the time, it was also the o...

Coffee & Friends Are My Therapy
Coffee and Friends Are My Therapy. Getting through life one cup at a time. Sunday, January 26, 2014. One of my favorite musicians is Ben Folds, he has a CD called Way to Normal. It is one of my favorite. The title references the Town of Normal - where I work and live and where my babies were born. But it is also how I feel about life right now. Life has been moving into a more positive direction lately. I attribute it to a variety of factors. This weekend was the best we have had in a long time. We h...
