i’m a real grown up | latterdaybohemian

https://latterdaybohemian.com/category/im-a-real-grown-up

I’m a real grown up. November 16, 2015. Unseasonably beautiful weather makes for weekend days full of crunching leaves and golden light. I need to soak up as much warmth as my skin can handle in anticipation of the winter to come. A sudden windfall in a month of austerity means getting out of debt within the year is now feasible. Being responsible sometimes feels very hard, but also very good. 8211; Hilary Mantell, because the mini series was remarkable. Bedtime in the Meadow. 8211; Mary Oliver. 8211; Ta...

July 3, 2015. It’s July 3, which means it’s time to revisit my. Resolutions for 2015. And good god, I haven’t posted in 3 months. As we enter the second half of the year, I want to renew my focus on taking care of my body. Between family responsibilities, work, vacation, and other scheduling things, it’s been very hard to get workouts in, and very easy to stick to comfort foods. This is less specific and measurable than I’d like, but it’s a start. Read 12 non-parenting books. Take better care of my skin.

January 2, 2016. I’m aiming for a letter each week. 16 sounds like a nice round number. I’m on track to finish my first this weekend. Barring injury, I’m aiming for 750 running and 2000 biking. I also really want this to be my marathon year, but I’ve said that before…. We saw a grand total of 6 last year. 12 seems possible. We’re on track to pay off all of my debt by the end of the year. I really want to make that happen. This might be the hardest resolution on this list. July 3, 2015. Elisa Albert), So ...

Q1 Resolutions in Review. April 1, 2016. A new post in a new location! I moved my blog from my own domain to WordPress about a month ago, but this is the first actual post over here. Please update your feed readers, assuming you still use such a thing! I’m keeping up with my goal of one letter/week, but they’ve mostly been thank you notes. (I need to write more thank you notes as well.). 1/16 completed. Not great, but not too far behind. 1/12 watched, but it was a big one! We have a substantial amount of...

https://latterdaybohemian.com/2014/01/2013-resolutions-in-review

2013 Resolutions in Review. January 3, 2014. Now that it’s firmly 2014, let’s look back on last year’s resolutions. 1 No pants in public. DONE For a while, I took daily photos of my tights. 2 One really big race: either the Chicago Marathon or a triathlon. 3 Ride a goddamned motorcycle. NOPE No matter how often I ask the internet, no one wants to give me a motorcycle ride. Maybe this year I’ll just man up and take my colleague’s motorcycle class. 4 Get out of debt. 5 Leave the country at least once.

I go to Northampton, MA on October 1 for a panel discussion on library careers. I’ll be there for about five days. And I’ll get to visit Dave, Sarah, Deiner, and Alex. AND my adviser for undergrad who is super-excited about my new grad school plans. On November 8, I take the GRE. Yikes And to top it all off, I am supposed to be planning things f...
