This is What 50 Looks Like. Musings on life after 50. Thursday, July 3, 2008. Spend all your time waiting. For that second chance. For a break that would make it okay. There's always some reason to feel not good enough. And it's hard at the end of the day. I need some distraction. Memory seeps from my veins. Let me be empty and weightless. And maybe I'll find some peace tonight. In the arms of an angel. Fly away from here. From this dark cold hotel room. And the endlessness that you fear.

Yesterday I went to the Arlington Metaphysical Chapel. For a reading with the Rev. F. Reed Brown. I'd heard about the Rev. Brown, a clairvoyant. After parking, I entered the church through the rear door where I saw an older gentleman in the tiny reception area who, with an added beard and costume could easily pass fo...

This is What 50 Looks Like. Musings on life after 50. Thursday, January 1, 2009. I ran 6 miles this morning, a feat worth noting since I've been complacent about fitness for several months. With my iPod. Feeding me a playlist. Intended to drown out my exertion. I trudged along a familiar and hilly route promising not to stop. It wasn't easy. When I got home, to my horror, my latest book, favorite reading glasses, and phone were trapped in another neighbor's car and I couldn't rouse her to free them!

Everyone around me seems more rational and has their life together and mine seems fractured and complicated. My parent's lives and needs are a great part of mine. My business is demanding. My personal life is failing. I feel like I'm suffocating. At Wednesday, April 25, 2007. Thursday, April 19, 2007. Of white mutant Pekin.

This is What 50 Looks Like. Musings on life after 50. Monday, May 26, 2008. Memorial Day BBQ: No Picnic for Pigs. This weekend being the mother of all BBQ weekends, I seriously pondered the plight of pigs. This is not a good thing, the pig plight - it's the story of horrible abuse. When I think of the lifetime of abuse pigs suffer to land on our plates (or rather. Don't go to Google and search on Pig hunting or slaughter and definitely don't go to YouTube. And do the same), I know way too much. I just do...
