We occasionally see a flash of brown and yellow through the trees and hedges in the garden as a sparrowhawk swoops down on a sparrow or goldfinch but never before have I seen one sat so close to the house, posing for a photograph, and in the pouring rain. There were at least three of these beautifully constructed wasp's nests in our attic. No bats thank goodness. Must be an escapee from a garden? Theres my favorite Lane! We have four inches of snow today with another six expected Thursday.no spring in sight on our island! Someday, I want to spend the entire year in England to see all the changes first hand! We have 3-4 ft of snow on the ground, but the birds know spring is coming!
