The foes are slugs, which I am doing fairly well at combatting with the use of organic slug pellets (safe to birds, children and animals, not necessarily in that order), and cabbage white butterflies. As you can see in the picture, I am using a reasonably fine mesh - but to my horror, the butterflies are managing to squeeze through.
