laura in zambia: September 2007

http://www.laurainzambia.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 29, 2007. So Rob's hilarous, right? Here's one day in the life of him. I was at a meeting, he was waiting at home for someone to talk over some work plans with him. He rolled his ankle. How did this happen you might ask? He rolled his ankle because he was running after a pig. Why was he running after a pig? Because he needed to protect his goat skin of course ;) A little explanation, he asked for the goat skin from my meeting's goat lunch because he wanted to make a billows(sp? A huge...

Sunday, March 25, 2007. So I am getting excited and nervous to be posted soon. We are in Lusaka getting gifts for our homestay family for our last week with them. And I am thinking about how soon I will be spending my 27th b-day in Africa :) Craziness! Anyways, I miss you all, wish I could spend my bday with you. But Rob and I will try and figure out something fun to do that day hopefully. So if you were wondering what you could send me for my b-day, here are some things that would be great:. Fertility R...

laura in zambia: December 2007

http://www.laurainzambia.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 26, 2007. Things are good. The holidays have been good. The rains are here, so things are slowing down a bit. Mushrooms are in season, which is awesome! I love a change in diet from time to time ;). I got in a small bike accident. Nothing major. Glasses are a little crooked now ;) Mostly just a brusied spirit ;) It's beginning to be rainy season and so things are very muddy and slippery. I fell right by a school with the kids outside, embarrassing ;). Wednesday, December 5, 2007.

Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Saturday, June 2, 2007. I feel the love ;). I'm in the boma for a bit trying to get some computer work done. And I got tons of packages from all of you (my wonderful freinds and family) for my b-day :) Thank you all so much for thinking of me and sending your love on. I really appreciate the great packages! But mostly, I really love that I heard from so many of you! Friday, June 1, 2007. What am I doing? Ask the people at the borehole ;). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Charlye's Peace Corps Experience in Zambia. Changing the World One Child at a Time. Wednesday, March 14, 2007. I am sure you guys have been waiting to hear some funny stories! In general I can get plenty of laughs from observing the people and my surroundings. The names of little shops and businesses are hilarious…like Stop Jealous Tuck Shop (tuck shops are small general stores). Bars named Liquor Nest and Boredom Breaker! The best part was that the pig was still alive and has his mouth tied shut! 8221; ...

Rob in Zambia: December 2006

http://peacecorpszambia.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 29, 2006. A single death is a tradegy, one million deaths is a statistic". While we are abroad in Zambia Laura and I will be both working on HIV/AIDS related issues. Directly through health education, and indirectly as the 17% adult infection rate tears through daily life. The AIDS pandemic continues to devastate sub-Saharan Africa. Two million people died from the disease in 2005 alone. Twelve million children have lost at least one parent. The statistics are staggering. The contents of...

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Travelling, Cycling, Happiness. This is the end. March 12, 2015. In the beginning of the year I was writing about big blog make-overs, about reinventing myself and my space on the internet. Believe it or not, this is exactly what I’ve been doing. It just didn’t turn out as expected. While going through ideas of what I want this blog to be, I realised that I don’t really want this blog to be anything anymore. It’s time to let go. A little Laura in your life. 8230;because maybe you're missing something. 3adi, Normal, عادي. October 9, 2014. October 9, 2014. This weekend I spent a lot of time thinking about my idea of normal. Of course, my normal comes from its own base of customs, language, religion, beliefs, values and understandings. It isn’t correct or right, but it exists. It’s that voice in my head that rings when something is outside of my comfort zone, beyond my ordinary. Raaaaas, she giggled, emphasizing the. I did, yes&#46...
