On Writing, Editing, and Other Randomness. Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Rising 2 Rewrite: Check! I finished my rewrite on. Rising Book 2: Rebellion. It ended up being 170,000 words. Given how much I cut and wrote brand new, this means I probably wrote close to 300,000 words between both drafts. I've emailed it out to my final draft people and printed out the shiny rewrite so I can read it on paper. Lots and lots of paper. Posted by Laura Josephsen. Friday, February 15, 2013. Tangled in my own endeavors: June 2012
http://threadmaiden.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Tangled in my own endeavors. Adventures in costuming by a novice seamstress. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. The Tale of Rose Red, Part 4. The blouse is finished! Last night was a magical night on the sewing front. I called a friend to ask if I could raid her elastic supply since I needed elastic to proceed and I didn't feel like driving all the way to the nearest place I could get some. 1) I narrow hem serged the edges of the cuffs. 2) Gathered the cuffs and sewed down the elastic. What I did have was lovely ...

Tangled in my own endeavors. Adventures in costuming by a novice seamstress. Sunday, May 13, 2012. The Tale of Rose Red, Part 1. Tonight is the season finale for Once Upon a Time. I invited a couple of friends over. We're going to have a little Finale get-together. I even bought an apple pie for the occasion! Today's post will be simple: Just some snapshots and discussions about the fabrics and the pattern I've chosen to use. This is my main reference photo:. VI Boots, Gloves. VII Hair, Basket, etc.

Tangled in my own endeavors. Adventures in costuming by a novice seamstress. Monday, August 20, 2012. The Tale of Rose Red, Part 7. Isn't it wonderful how fortuitously things sometimes align sometimes? Some friends of ours from church have a home away from home in southern Ohio- a small cottage with all the amenities. About a half a mile up the hill in the woods they also have a one-room, furnished log cabin that the husband built himself as a hobby. The Tale of Rose Red, Part 6. The next adventure was t...

Tangled in my own endeavors. Adventures in costuming by a novice seamstress. Friday, March 30, 2012. Hey, look, it's almost April! I haven't had much cause to post in the last few weeks (months)? There are a couple of reasons for that. One, I've been working on my Rapunzel embroidery, yes, but more slowly than I'd like, and it's old territory anyway. I wasn't sure I was going to participate this year, but about two months back I got a splendid idea for a theme. The 'Dream' Costume List! Still, when it's ...

Tangled in my own endeavors. Adventures in costuming by a novice seamstress. Monday, January 6, 2014. For 2014 I am renewing my efforts to make costuming masterpieces, but I'll be reporting on my efforts from a new home: http:/ www.faithkingwriter.com/. In any case, the new website is one central stop for all my goals and plans for the year, and, hopefully, news about the books I'm working hard to get published. I've recently joined the smartphone generation, so I'll also be better about pictures. Pictur...

Tangled in my own endeavors. Adventures in costuming by a novice seamstress. Monday, August 20, 2012. The Tale of Rose Red, Part 6. Clearly, the most important thing you need if you're going to be Little (or Tall) Red Riding Hood is a red cape and hood. That part was expensive, but easy. Of the trim, closer to the body. This required some creative finagling but I made it work. The next problem became what to do about the mystery trim on her cloak. Can you. Tell what it's made of? This is the best picture...
Barbara Kloss: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
http://scribblesnjots.blogspot.com/2014/12/merry-christmas-and-happy-new-year.html
Monday, December 29, 2014. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! So, I'm a little late for the first and very.punctual for the latter. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, nonetheless! Ours was very nice and quiet. We stayed local this year, and opted NOT to make the 13 hour drive to northern California with two babies and a dog, tempting as it was. Can't believe it's our last Christmas in the desert! Second, is that I have OFFICIALLY handed her guts (aka the story) to my crit partners and betas!
