My Adventure in Copenhagen. Crazy things that Copenhageners do while riding their bikes…. 1 Biking while pregnant. 2 Talking on the cell phone. 4 Sharing earphones with the biker next to you. 5 Holding hands with the biker next to you. 6 Riding in heels. 7 Riding in skirts. 8 Drinking a beer (a carlsberg to be specific). 9 Getting rid of one wheel and riding a unicycle. To be continued…. This entry was posted on Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 at 5:48 pm and is filed under Copenhagen. From your own site.
Reliving 4th grade… | Laura's Travels

My Adventure in Copenhagen. Reliving 4th grade…. The Olympic committee held its meeting in Copenhagen this year to decide which of the candidate cities would host the 2016 Olympics. Chicago was one of the contenders, so celebrities from Illinois, from Oprah to Obama, flocked to Copenhagen in order to support our bid. Unfortunately, no sitings of either, but it was cool to know they were in my city! Apparently Aqua is a Danish band (who knew! So despite the loss of the Olympic bid, the night was not lost.

My Adventure in Copenhagen. Bob Takes on Copenhagen. When I got back from my bike trip, I went to class. Immediately after class, I was greeted by my Dad at his hotel, 5 minutes from DIS. We went to lunch and then headed over to the kings gardens to explore Rosenorg castle, the castle built by King Christian IV just outside the walls of the old city (although now, it’s right smack in the middle of it.). Inside the opera house. Alter in our Saviors Church. At the top of the spire of Our Saviors Church.

My Adventure in Copenhagen. Go west young man…. Sorry, I haven’t been keeping up on my blog posts. I’ll try to get better, I promise! There’s just so much to do and so little time! The weekend of September 10-12, I headed to Western Denmark with my core class, child development in a multicultural context. We toured a couple of schools that are known to be particularly multicultural, but we also had some cultural experiences as well. Dressing up at the tinderbox! Our hostel. yes, it was a hostel. Enter yo...

Notes from the Netherlands: Het Concertgebouw
http://netherlandnotes.blogspot.com/2009/12/het-concertgebouw.html
Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Sometimes I actually stay in Amsterdam. You wouldn’t think it from reading my last six posts. But despite how it seems from all my traveling weekends and random day-trips with classes and such, I spend quite a lot of time just hanging out in Amsterdam, seeing things here and making sure I know this city better than any other place I visit. Dinner was served “ rijsttafel. We finished up dinner with coffee and some. Internet stock photo of. Being complimented on my “smart...

Sunday, December 6, 2009. Side Note: Paris (cont'd). C’est ça Halloween! Before I start this note in earnest, I have to explain that ever since I found out that we would be in Paris for Halloween, I had this. Stuck in my head (thanks to my French II teacher in high school):. So that’s what I woke up thinking about on our last full day in Paris, and what remained in my head throughout the day’s events. I hoped against hope that she would somehow try to call me and manage to break through the bad connectio...

Tuesday, October 27, 2009. The Edinburgh Exchange – Part 1. I was told many times before I left the States what a beautiful city Amsterdam was. “Such wonderful architecture! 8221; people said, or “it’s so pretty with all the canals! After lunch I took Tarra down a street called Bloemenmarkt, where a line full of vendors sell all sorts of flowers (or “bloemen” in Dutch) including many of Holland’s famous tulips. Then headed back along the Amstel to have lunch and go shopping with Conny. But just like Kris...

Monday, January 11, 2010. Day 3 - In which Kristin, Tarra and I are intensely cultured and excessively diverted. On Saturday morning, Kristin and Tarra and I set out to the Primrose Hill neighborhood of. A quiet, pretty, slightly more upscale area of the city. The Museum of Everything. A recently opened museum of art by self-taught artists. The things on display were quirky and strange and very interesting, reminding me a lot of one of my favorite museums at home: The American Visionary Art Museum in.

Monday, November 23, 2009. I asked the group (we were planning on going Thursday to Sunday). Nobody could object to the more reasonable price, so we took a bus to Paris. Needless to say, we were a little cranky by the time we alighted in Paris at 6 am, but we hung out gamely in the bus station lobby until the sun came up, then we cast about for some breakfast. There was a little mall area outside the station, and we ended up eating at … McDonald’s. You bet I was. By the time we were done, the museum was ...

Thursday, December 10, 2009. Day 1: In which I feel well-traveled and well-connected. After a late night spent going to the Concertgebouw, Skyping with my family and packing for the weekend, I dragged myself out of bed at 6 in the morning to go with Conny to the airport to catch our planes. I was going to London to visit Kristin, and Conny was going to visit a friend, coincidentally also named Kristin, in Florence. I was obliged by a polite but insistent doorman to check my small carry-on suitcase for a ...

Sunday, January 10, 2010. Day 2 – In which I compensate for several months of soggy stylelessness with a substantial purchase (and a night on the town). After a sound night’s sleep on Kristin’s surprisingly comfortable couch, I woke up on Friday morning ready to hit the town. Kristin and I took turns showering and breakfasting and before too long we were ready to go. And then either going to another museum or watching a comedy performance. For me, modern art is very hit or miss. The Tate Modern had a lit...

Sunday, August 30, 2009. But to be honest, I surprised myself with my choice to go to Amsterdam. I think I always pictured myself going somewhere else instead. Yet, when it came time to finally choose a place to go last spring, I had a lot of reasons for settling on the Netherlands. For those of you who haven’t already heard it, here’s my thoroughly rationalized answer to the question: Why Amsterdam? Either that or let me know where you are, and I’ll try to visit you.
