Saturday, March 21, 2009. Stream of Living Water. Ever wondered why God hasn’t felt like enough? Picture a big box. Inside that big box are dozens of little boxes all floating around. The top and bottom of each little box is a trap door, locked shut. Now imagine filling the big box with water. As the water begins to fill the big box, it is unable to penetrate the locked little boxes. No matter how much water you pour into your big box, there will still be empty spaces. Whoever believes in me, as the Scri...

In the pockets of ordinary days. Wednesday, September 10, 2008. September 7, 2008. So, it’s a Sunday. I just got back from swimming at Suck Creek, which runs at the bottom of the Signal Mountain (they like to think it is a mountain, but really just a large hill…) and feel like I have millions of microscopic creatures crawling on me. My other favorite swimin howl is out ther cawled Bow Crik, where the red-necks meet the nature. To avoid meeting the entire community, I learned that Fridays (my day off!

Friday, September 26, 2008. Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Have you been driving home from a familiar place and arrived at your house without remembering the entire drive? Most accidents happen within five minutes from your house for this very experience. The same is true in our lives. We get into routines and can go through entire days on autopilot, only snapping out of it in crisis. Even relationships and conversation become habitual. To awaken your senses is to awaken your soul. As I climb will it get...

Sixteen of us piled into the back of a. Brick-red pickup cruised the Domincan highways. Driving beneath the cloudless sky, we passed toweringmountains and white sandy beaches, separated by fertile fields and palm trees. In the pockets of ordinary days. Wednesday, November 7, 2007. I am caught it the middle of depth and fluff (yes, fluff). My heart is living two distinctive places. The first is a yearning desire for depth, depth of thought, depth of passion. I want to be transformed by Christ; I want to be overwhelmed with Him. I want to find a place were my passions can be used, where I can be challenged and stretched. I feel stir crazy and frustrated with such an intangible and impossible to explain feeling. I love lat...

In the pockets of ordinary days. Monday, March 24, 2008. 8220;Freedom of Speech.” Familiar words, yet unfamiliar in practice. I am not discussing the ability to say whatever one wants, but the actual freedom that comes from speaking. Issues, struggles, heartache, we’ve all got them yet we walk on the tippy-toes of life, hoping our brokenness will sneak past people. As I continually gain courage, I continue to share my issues. Speaking about them has brought an unbelievable freedom. Honest freedom from th...
