I celebrated the New Year in New York which was really a fun thing to do. It was cold but a great time of year to be there. Skating at Rockefeller Center, visiting Ellis Island and walking up to the building that my ancestors approached so many years ago, riding in a horse and carriage through Central Park, plus the museums, the store window displays, and walking all over town – we did it all in the seven days we were there. After spending Christmas with my family at my brother’s home in Invermere, B. C. it wasn’t long until my friend Kate and I were off to Argentina. We were so lucky to stay with our friend Lucrecia in her apartment in Buenos Aires. We met her ten years ago when we were in Costa Rica. She is a professor at the University of Buenos Aires and kindly invited us to stay with her. Beach Scene, Morro de Sao Paulo. Cristo Redendor, Kate and I. On top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. As you may remember I spent two and a half months in Mesa, Arizona and didn’t arrive home until the end of January so I didn’t do any major overseas travel this year. It is time to reflect on the year and how quickly it passed by as I think of all the friends I will be in touch with this time of year and some that have passed and will only be wonderful memories. I met some Winnipeg friends in Victoria in February for a chilly but fun few days. Jan and I went on a mini vacation to Lake Powell, Bryce National Park and Zion which was fantastic. Even though the Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion are all beautiful rock formations they are so different. Each one has its own beauty.
