Push the Pull Door: May 2014
http://pushthepulldoor.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Push the Pull Door. Politics, Firearms, Family. Monday, May 26, 2014. Memorial Day 2014 Is a Good Day to Be Alive. This is not going to be a long piece. I had not planned on writing anything in particular for Memorial Day; I was just going to do my thing and let the blogging sit. But I went to the gym today, since I had the chance to go to the more-intense Level 2 class in the morning. And it was intense; Wayne of HIPE. Noises, because I am that guy. Yeah, that guy. Thursday, May 22, 2014. I hated it....

The Stick Chick: The Entropy Game
http://www.thestickchick.com/2015/08/the-entropy-game.html
Wednesday, August 12, 2015. We had a really interesting discussion the other day about the nature of how we train, how we think, and chaos. Pretty deep stuff for a martial arts training session, I know, but bear with me. Then we talked about the nature of unconsciousness when I knocked him out. One of my training partners is at the stage of his development where he's going from learning patterns and set responses to specific situations to having to learn how to act and react to what is in front of him.

The Stick Chick: Why I'm Against Online Dojos
http://www.thestickchick.com/2015/08/why-im-against-online-dojos.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Why I'm Against Online Dojos. Technology is an amazing thing, and in many ways, have made the life of a modern martial artist better than ever. One development that bothers me, though, is the idea that one can learn a complete martial art from scratch via an "online dojo" - which is really just an easier and faster way of learning by book or video or DVD. So when I say "online dojo" I mean those older methods too. We see this a lot with weapons, usually performance martial arts...

The Stick Chick: February 2015
http://www.thestickchick.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. Kobudo: Getting Used to the Big Stick. So I had my second formal Kobudo class a few weeks ago. I had to rush to it after rushing from a three hour Modern Arnis seminar to attend class, so by the end of that day, my arms were about ready to fall right off. Pretty much. Image found here. Now that I'm past my fear of formality (see here. I've relaxed a little bit so class is a more enjoyable. Me all gussied up formal-like. No, I have not taken one in my white gi yet. I have been...

Not One More Gun Law: Orlando Massacre: Radical Islam is at War With Us -- And So Is Our Administration
http://notonemoregunlaw.blogspot.com/2016/06/orlando-massacre-radical-islam-is-at.html
Not One More Gun Law. The Philosophy Behind The Trigger. Thursday, June 16, 2016. Orlando Massacre: Radical Islam is at War With Us - And So Is Our Administration. By the way: the largest American mass murder we mention before? That was at Wounded Knee, South Dakota, where 150 men, women and children of the Lakota Indian Nation were murdered by the US Government. The attack came shortly after the Lakota's were disarmed. Something to think about. July 7, 2016 at 12:07 PM. Thats a lie. The Lakotas were...

The Stick Chick: And Then There Were None
http://www.thestickchick.com/2015/07/and-then-there-were-none.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. And Then There Were None. Time for another one of those annoying parentbrag posts I make from time to time. Not one little bit. Long-time readers of the blog know that both my husband and I train and teach the martial arts together. You also know that Older Daughter is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do (and has started fencing). We had one more human being in our household not in a gi on a regular basis: Younger Daughter. So, we waited. Worked with her at home a bit, and waited. She w...

The Stick Chick: January 2015
http://www.thestickchick.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. Today is MAPA 4! Today I'm attending Metroplex Arnis Players Alliance. To read my thoughts about the previous gatherings:. Thoughts from MAPA: The True Value of Cross Training. Thoughts from MAPA 2: We Are Family. Thoughts from MAPA 3: The Student is the Teacher is the Student. We try to keep the cost low as we are trying to grow awareness of the Filipino Martial Arts in general, so we want it to be very accessible. The plan is to have a MAPA gathering each quarter. I'll post ...
