TES Latin Blogs: A trip to the smallest independent state in the world...
http://lbaldinites.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-trip-to-smallest-independent-state-in.html
Saturday, June 20, 2015. A trip to the smallest independent state in the world. Following the tour, I was free to explore the museums on my own. I spent much of my time in the Roman and Etruscan galleries, but also enjoyed the tapestries and seeing the works of Raphael. I was then shuffled into the Sistine Chapel along with, what felt like, every other tourist in Rome. What an amazing sight! I look forward to sharing my adventures with all of my students and the whole Trinity community. Thank you! Thanks ...

TES Latin Blogs: Aching Feet, Sun-burned Shoulders, and a Full Brain
http://lbaldinites.blogspot.com/2015/06/aching-feet-sun-burned-shoulders-and.html
Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Aching Feet, Sun-burned Shoulders, and a Full Brain. This morning I walked to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill for an audioguide tour of the archaeological sites. This audioguide is no joke! After a quick lunch and sunscreen application, I made my way to the Palazzo Massimo, a museum that houses artwork from the Early Republican period to the Late Empire. Wow-what an amazing collection of mosaics. My 8th graders would be amazed. Check out the pictures. Ecce Romani Online Textbook.

TES Latin Blogs: Lisa vs. the Volcano
http://lbaldinites.blogspot.com/2015/06/lisa-vs-volcano.html
Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Lisa vs. the Volcano. After the climb and a slippery descent, I made my way to Herculaneum. Guess what, 8th graders! I got to see the boathouse with the skeletons still intact! I actually saw where they used urine to clean their clothes. Tomorrow I will be visiting Dr. Claudio Bizzarri, an archaeologist in Orvieto, who will give me a tour of his current excavations. Stay tuned. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). TES Latin Blogs: So many tombs!
http://lbaldinites.blogspot.com/2015/06/so-many-tombs.html
Friday, June 19, 2015. I am sill having difficulty in uploading my photos to my Google Drive so please bear with me. Hopefully I will get them on sometime tonight. Finally I stopped at La Bocca della Verita (the mouth of truth) which some of you will know from the movie Roman Holiday. The large circular mask is thought to have been an ancient Roman manhole cover. Today there is a legend that if you put your hand into the mouth and tell a lie, it will bite your hand off. I came away with both hands.

TES Latin Blogs: Roma Day One
http://lbaldinites.blogspot.com/2015/06/roma-day-one.html
Sunday, June 14, 2015. Please check out this link. With some pictures that were taken today. I stopped into a few churches along my route to my final stop of the day, the Trevi Fountain (after a gelato stop, of course). Unfortunately, the monument is under scaffolding because it is being renovated. So sad! I think I've just about reached my limit of exhaustion. I want to be fresh and ready for my Colosseum tour and Gladiator School tomorrow! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ecce Romani Online Textbook.

TES Latin Blogs: From the Etruscans to the Middle Ages
http://lbaldinites.blogspot.com/2015/06/from-etruscans-to-middle-ages.html
Friday, June 19, 2015. From the Etruscans to the Middle Ages. I wrote this post yesterday, but I was having technology issues. The photos. From yesterday will be along soon! Next I went to an Etruscan necropolis (the Crocifisso del Tufo). I was able to walk around and into tombs that date to the 6th century BC. This site is also currently being excavated and I was able to visit the portion being excavated. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Useful Links for Latin Students. Ecce Romani Online Textbook.
