Little Corner of the Earth: July 2015
http://little-corner-of-the-earth.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
I will always reply to comments and always re-reply to re-replies. Friday, July 10, 2015. Old Austins (Or Transport Through the Ages III). It was a lovely, well preserved car with only one vice. At anything over 60 the front wheels would wobble so violently that steering was very much compromised. (I learnt to anticipate it's commencement and back off the speed). With later acquired mechanical "nous" I would have realized that those huge and heavy front wheels simply needed balancing. I would say "happy ...

Now's the time: May 2013
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Three things to share every day. Friday, May 31, 2013. Pear, greeting, soup, jelly and ice cream. Pear blossom on one of the two espaliered trees in the vegetable garden. A young woman approaches me with a greeting, a sort of high five gesture, as I walk up Mount Pleasant. Do I know her? I don't think I do. Panic. Is she someone I should know. Then relief. I sense someone coming up behind me, who is ready, able and willing to respond. Thursday, May 30, 2013. Mint, people and hospitals. With my dearest an...

Now's the time: October 2013
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Three things to share every day. Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Wings, soporific and stoicism. For want of a new photograph or two this pigeon from the archive must do. In blank moments before sleeping a sure soporific I have found is to to plan a formal address. The first few clichéd words suffice, accompanied in my imagination by a pompous and rather patronising tone of voice. Thus:. My dear friends . My lords, ladies and gentlemen . Sunday, October 27, 2013. Storm, mulling and ready made slogans. A time...

Three things to share every day. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Sound before the fury, coming closer and blue ice. A bridge camera with a 50 X optical zoom moving up from macro on the same lens and with remarkable stabilisation features (hand held is fine) appeals to me as a means of fixing objects and creatures near and distant and providing a record of passing inspiration, fleeting images, stolen moments. Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Nectar, gourmet goes ga ga, and an armful of wormwood. Monday, July 29, 2013.

Now's the time: Fresh peel, achievement and tools
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2014/02/fresh-peel-achievement-and-tools.html
Three things to share every day. Friday, February 28, 2014. Fresh peel, achievement and tools. Managing to get myself out of bed and breakfasted in time to get to Pembury Hospital for am echo cardiogram at 8.45. It may seem a small achievement but it is something I am dreading because the mornings are so difficult and time consuming. Thank you Milo for being outside the front door in time for a lift to the hospital. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Singer, tamarind and daphne.

Now's the time: March 2014
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Three things to share every day. Sunday, March 09, 2014. Close up, frailty and tomatoes. Cheerfulness is my chief object in life even when it seems to be a fleeting virtue. I find myself hoping that people will make allowances for its present frailty. Friday, March 07, 2014. Story, sunshine and fiction. Every window has a story. About the build up to World War 1. It strikes me as ordering and explaining the facts better than the pages of history I have just been reading. Two more episodes to go&#...Dr Wa...

Now's the time: Door, study and danger
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2014/03/door-study-and-danger.html
Three things to share every day. Sunday, March 02, 2014. Door, study and danger. Door in Sitges from the archives. The room where I spend most of my time at the moment I call my study. For a good many reasons I discourage people from referring to it as a office. The function of every office which I used is quite different. Perhaps because moving around is a problem for me at the moment I am increasingly attracted by the current sport - called I think parcour -. Is it really called parcours. A student who...

Now's the time: Singer, tamarind and daphne

Three things to share every day. Thursday, February 27, 2014. Singer, tamarind and daphne. Mackerel and coconut curry. An ingredient which I have not used until now is tamarind paste. I had not associated mackerel with India, but it substitutes well I suspect for an equivalent in Indian waters. Thank you Anjum Ansand for another new experience. A spray of daphne placed on fireplace in front of a mirror keeps catching my eye. It looks Japanese, a pleasing sight, all day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
