Gathering of Engineers: May 2006
http://pdxgaming.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Ludographic considerations from the Silicon Forest. Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Posted by Eric @ 11:09 PM. After reading Dave's post yesterday. I found it interesting that we're heading two completely separate directions on how we want to spend our limited gaming time. Dave goes for the half turkey sandwich, and I go for the four-course meal. Probably explains our physical shapes, as well. As I alluded to last week. I spent a good amount of time this past week attempting to learn OCS. Examine the lay of the l...

Here are my awards for 2005, in four categories with a bit of detail below. This category is for larger board games, generally more accessible to new gamers and very family friendly. Of the whole series, this Carcassonne is one of the best for easy rules that make sense, some decent choices and nice graphics. In Dallas where we had a blast with it. Ticket to Ride: Europe. Even be...

Ludographic considerations from the Silicon Forest. Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Posted by Eric @ 8:23 PM. Sorry guys. nothing much from me this week. All keyed up for our trip to Vegas (we leave in 15 hours - woohoo! And don't really have anything prepared. I was going to make some comments on the controversial Essence of Euro-Style Games. I'll be writing next week's column in a post-Vegas haze, so I have no idea what you'll get :) (Anybody know of any decent game shops down there? Format. This forma...

Gathering of Engineers: August 2005
http://pdxgaming.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Ludographic considerations from the Silicon Forest. Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Errr, umm, hi, I think. Posted by Myk @ 11:10 PM. A quick paddle in the Med and then time to head off again. Man, I miss being a student. Anyway. As the others seem to have started with a brief summary of their gaming history, I might as well do the same. I recall playing some games with my parents. Flutter. Is it just a Scottishism? I say 'almost' because until very recently I hadn't played any wargames in an absolute age...

Gathering of Engineers: Happy Trials
http://pdxgaming.blogspot.com/2006/06/happy-trials.html
Ludographic considerations from the Silicon Forest. Monday, June 12, 2006. Posted by dave @ 5:06 PM. After ten months, the Gathering of Engineers blog will cease to be. We have all enjoyed the solid group identity and exchanges that made us unique among the gaming blogs, but we feel that the collective failure to post regularly has largely undermined that quality. The good news is that this does not reflect on the health of the Rip City Gamers, where gaming opportunities abound as much as ever. Are great...

Gedachtenkronkels en andere (on)zin. Thursday, June 09, 2005. It's been a busy last couple of weeks with the new baby and all. But finally, after the long rains we've had up here the picking season opened yesterday morning at West Union Gardens. On the way back we stopped at the grocery store to pick up some Tillamook French Vanilla. Ice cream to make strawberry milkshakes. The local restaurant chain Burgerville. Website of all places. I guess you can always count on the Brits ;-). I was born, yada, yada...

Of The Netherlands is publishing a new game about the Dutch Revolt against Spain, also known as the 80-years war. The (preliminary) map for this game is shown on their website (and various other places) and shows features that weren't even constructed until the late 20th century.
