Somewhere between the easel and the garden…. March 27, 2015. Seeing him talk live was a joy, and if I could have asked him any question it would have been ‘What is it that makes you at heart a gardener’? Spring comes and the grass grows by itself. Somewhere between the easel and the garden…. April 12, 2012. The House of Stone. Part 2. A line of a fenced wall leads upwards, while the coarse grass conceals patches of almost black marsh that suck at your feet. Here and there clumps of heather punctuate the hillside, their purples and lilacs perfectly complementing the pale turf. Yellow, but where is that yellow? My not knowing makes me smile. Returning to the Dref Gerrig is like coming home. I have always felt a great feeling of freedom and peace...

Somewhere between the easel and the garden…. January 12, 2012. As a human I live in many changing worlds, as an artist one of the stranger ones has been the one of Starving Jane…. So many nights spent lost in a storm of music; a single candle lighting the twisting incense smoke, pencil in hand, carving a story into the page. Fear and sadness in a dark town, with nowhere to hide. Yet also… joy? Joy in the realized freedom to sometimes breathe, sometimes scream out that darkness? To live in song?

Somewhere between the easel and the garden…. March 27, 2015. Timeis an elusive thing. Three years full of long moments vanish in the blink of an eye. As I grow older I grow interested in fewer and fewer things, but those that remain become deeper and richer and more marvellous. Time becomes more precious. This day will not come again. Each minute is worth a priceless gem . (Takuan Soho). Then our daughter was born and my world was full of her. Laquo; The House of Stone. Part 2. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

http://natureswaygardens.blogspot.com/2014/12/from-city-to-country.html
A humble gardeners blog. Monday, 1 December 2014. From city to country. I could happily ramble on for many pages about the Monmouth area and many chapters about the wonderful Forest of Dean, however this is a simple garden blog and I a simple gardener must focus on that. What then of my work and the space I now find myself? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Having spent the years since 1998 pottering in gardens around Britain I've come to find a great joy in all aspects of such outdoor life. Freque...

Natures Way: November 2012
http://natureswaygardens.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
A humble gardeners blog. Friday, 30 November 2012. In the garden it’s important to take the changing seasons seriously, now is the time to prepare the plants for a harsh few months whilst giving wildlife every chance to weather the winter and be ready for the spring next year. If we’re really going to be having the bitter cold the forecasters are currently predicting then certain steps need to be taken to ensure the garden is ready and able to survive it too. Wednesday, 28 November 2012. Having spent the...

A humble gardeners blog. Tuesday, 10 July 2012. You may well ask what this has to do with gardening but bear with me and you’ll see. Take one of my clients, she has a long lawn that over the years I’ve managed to creep some shape and interest into however she will not waver on how tightly mown she expects it, to the bone. 8220;It’s too short” I tell her “it’s scalping and damaging the grass”. 8220;It’ll grow back” is the answer I get. A humble gardeners blog. Monday, 22 June 2015. The garden. The gardener. It's been over a year since the move. A year of discovering new gardens. A year of rediscovering gardening and what it is to be a part of that. Truly this is the essence of it, to exist in a state where there is no difference between gardener and garden. There is just the garden. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Having spent the years since 1998 pottering in gardens around Britain I've come to find a great joy in all aspects of such outd...

A humble gardeners blog. Tuesday, 22 May 2012. Plant out annual bedding. Pinch out annuals to promote bushing out. Consider giving pots with bulbs in an overhaul whilst dormant. Feed roses and shrubs now actively growing. Depending on the weather make sure to keep pots and new plants well watered. Thin out fruit on overly abundant trees. Mulch beds to help maintain moisture and nutrients. Bring houseplants out for fresh air and a good dousing in rain. Prune early flowering shrubs. View my complete profile.

A humble gardeners blog. Saturday, 22 September 2012. Orla and the art of gardening. Of course it’s not all pointing out the world I I’ve forgotten to acknowledge we also have games of gambolling on the lawn, carrying buckets of weeds to the compost, pushing the lawn mower and rides in the wheelbarrow. I’ll end by with this. Can it be a coincidence that a well pruned and healthy looking tree is also one of the best trees to climb? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Leaf Vigurs | Somewhere between the easel and the garden…
Somewhere between the easel and the garden…. May 16, 2016. Pruning back a large Juniper a few weeks ago I came across a common wasp,. Still sluggish as she slowly warmed her body in the sunlight. Holding on to the juniper with her back two pairs of legs she used her front pair to delicately clean her antennae. Despite the presence of such a large and seemingly clumsy creature she did not seem inclined to move, cold blooded as they are she may have simply been too cool to fly. February 8, 2016. In the gar...
