Nutrition, Food and Health. May 11, 2015. The truth about fats. Fats are used as a fuel for the body, and they are a very dense fuel at that. Per gram of fat there are 9 calories, whereas per gram of protein there are only 4 calories showing that for the equivalent weight, fat has more than double the amount of calories as protein. If you’re anything like me and enjoy watching the lives of others on Instagram and other social media sites you’ve probably stumbled upon many fitness fanatics. Kayla Itsines (@kayla itsines) and Massy Arias (@massy.arias) are two of my personal favourites and both have over 1 million followers on Instagram! We’ve all heard how muscle is heavier than fat, and so if you become leaner and lose fat but gain muscle you WILL become heavier.

I was thinking back on the year today, trying to think of some favorite moments. It’s been a long year. So long that I almost forgot 2015 was the year in which Teddy was born. (Did Teddy even make it on the blog? I don’t think so. Oh wait, yes he did. That happened so long ago! This sweet photo is from my sisters September wedding in Oregon.).
