Poems of a pensive or playful persuasion. Monthly Archives: August 2015. August 24, 2015. When I was not quite a child, but not full-grown. I loved to sit and hear the rain on windows. Or pattering, battering the roof. The rain was a waterfall,. Remote and full of promise. Leading to who knew what magic future. Now I am not a child, and quite full-grown. I sometimes grab a waterproof and wellies. And go splash in puddles,. Though more often I sit and wait,. And wonder will it ever stop. Of rain or sun.

Number 3 Will Happen Soon. | The Eye of a Thieving Magpie
https://maggielt.wordpress.com/2016/07/23/number-3-will-happen-soon
Who is the Magpie? The Eye of a Thieving Magpie. My birdseye view of this crazy life – in words and pictures. Number 3 Will Happen Soon. July 23, 2016. August 4, 2016. I have had a bucket list since I was young. I am not sure if it is Punishment. To share it or an incentive to go for it, to make it happen. I am hoping the latter is true. There are often obstacles to overcome to get where we want to be. It is not always easy to “just go for it”. Well # 2 and 6 are important, # 19 is driving me crazy.

First catch your hare | poedoodles

Poems of a pensive or playful persuasion. First catch your hare. July 23, 2015. Humans and other beasts. On the path ahead. A hare, grooms itself,. Relaxing, eating, watching. Maybe unaware or perhaps. It knows we’re there. We stop, still, voices low,. Grasp my camera in my bag. I must have this if I can. The hare’s still there,. Easy to see in life,. More tricky on the screen –. Against the browning grass. I have it now. Stay steady, hands,. As I press the shutter. In the end, the snapshots pass. Explor...

Cafe conversation | poedoodles
https://aliqot.wordpress.com/2015/06/14/cafe-conversation
Poems of a pensive or playful persuasion. June 14, 2015. We order and find a table. In the cramped café. A woman at the next table catches my eye. Holds out a photograph. This is my cat,. He’s not a tabby. He’s a Bengal cat. He lies on a red cushion,. Large, lithe and handsome. Nice one, I say. You sure he’s not a tiger? I used to have two dogs. Lost them in two months. The other pined away. Cats are easier, I say. While we two eat we talk. Of books and films and politics and life . . . I nod, good idea.

Poems of a pensive or playful persuasion. Magus in the Park. August 14, 2015. A hot day in London. A shady cafe in the park. To his quieter companion. It’s all about karma. And how to know her ideal man. She nods and murmurs. In the face of his persistent. At intervals this modern magus. Refers to his smartphone. Reads out a sentence or two. And elaborates, expostulates,. In love with the mystic spheres. And his acquiescent companion. But mostly with the sound. Of his own voice. Rainy day in Leeds. The U...

Rainy day in Leeds | poedoodles
https://aliqot.wordpress.com/2015/08/01/rainy-day-in-leeds
Poems of a pensive or playful persuasion. Rainy day in Leeds. August 1, 2015. The rain pours down, as I take two grandchildren to holiday activities. Swish of windscreen wipers, and tyres on the wet road. I drop Rose off at a friend’s house, then I give Isaac the sat nav to follow, though he knows the way fine well. He gives me directions as we cut through the outskirts of Leeds, and the scenery changes from suburban chic to rural. One wrong turn and Mrs SatNav puts us right in a trice. A cafe more so.

Poems of a pensive or playful persuasion. Valparaíso – first impressions. August 28, 2016. Arriving in a city by public transport. After a luxurious journey by bus. We enter via the anal passages. Streets of dereliction and decay. Untidy graffiti in layers. Rubbish strewn or piled. And people down at heel. And out of luck. Shop fronts with blinds down. And a feeling that the end of the world. Is just around the corner. Then, having enough money to float above. And somewhere to sleep and call our base.
