Learning all about archery! The arrow shaft is the central part of the arrow and the most critical piece. Shafts must be straight, strong and consistent in order to be accurate. When made of wood they are solid, but out of most other materials they are hollow. Nocks go on the back end of the arrow shaft and have a notch that attaches to the string of the arrow.
