working with text | Learning Objects
https://learningobjects.wordpress.com/2006/12/04/working-with-text
A journal of lauren pressley ’s library practicum. December 4, 2006. I didn’t invest as much time in the practicum on Saturday as I had planned. Part of this was that it was somewhat of an ordeal to even get the powercord back from my office. I didn’t realize that WFU would be hosting a triathlon that morning! It wasn’t a big deal, though, I was able to find parking out of the way of the athletes, and I took the quick walk to the library to reclaim the missing equipment. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. A journal of lauren pressley ’s library practicum. 12/1: time without the ThinkPad. December 4, 2006. Friday was a pretty hectic day, and I forgot to bring my powercord home for the ThinkPad! If I were to do Friday over again, though, I would have brought home the powercord! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. two workdays in one! | Learning Objects
https://learningobjects.wordpress.com/2006/11/29/two-workdays-in-one
A journal of lauren pressley ’s library practicum. Two workdays in one! November 29, 2006. I literally spent all day working on learning Flash. 14 hours. I took the day off of work to spend some quality time with Flash Professional 8. It was fun and potentially very. Useful, which is why I was able to stick with it. Here’s what I learned about Flash:. Interactive Flash is hard (if you’re not a programmer)! Getting Flash and Captivate to communicate is impossible! New materials are on Library 2! You are c...
“reflective summary” | Learning Objects
https://learningobjects.wordpress.com/2006/12/04/reflective-summary
A journal of lauren pressley ’s library practicum. 8220;reflective summary”. December 4, 2006. This semester I have worked with Susan Smith, Head of Information Technology, and Kevin Gilbertson, Webmaster, of the Z. Smith Reynolds Library, to create learning objects to support our LIB100, Accessing Information in the 21st Century, course. The three we chose to focus on were broadening and narrowing a topic, truncation, and Boolean searching. Along the way, we planned for me to meet several objectives.
truncation feud | Learning Objects
https://learningobjects.wordpress.com/2006/12/01/truncation-feud-2
A journal of lauren pressley ’s library practicum. December 1, 2006. It was a good review of some of the more basic features in Flash, and I’m getting much more comfortable with it. I can definitely see the power in the software and the potential for some really cool applications. The plan for tomorrow: try to figure out how to do the programming for dynamic text! a great matrix and a mosh pit | Exploring Media Literacy

July 15, 2006. A great matrix and a mosh pit. 8212; lauren pressley @ 12:33 pm. I just stumbled across a great matrix comparing traditional learning with more connectivist methods. Check it out! Similarly, there is an interesting post about mosh pit as classroom. That shows some of these differences in a more textual way. Leave a Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. https://exploringmedialiteracy.wordpress.com/2006/07/05/back-in-town
July 5, 2006. 8212; lauren pressley @ 7:30 pm. I’ve been away for conferences and for family reasons pretty much since June 23rd. (Actually, I was here one evening in there somewhere, but it was enough to get my feet on the ground, laundry done, and get going again.) I was able to do a lot of reading while away, but I didn’t have internet nearly as much as I needed to for this class. I phoned in my update to Odeo. It can be found in the Exploring Media Literacy podcast. Leave a Comment ».

podcast #2 | Exploring Media Literacy
https://exploringmedialiteracy.wordpress.com/2006/06/18/podcast-2
June 18, 2006. Filed under: emerging technology. 8212; lauren pressley @ 1:12 pm. Today I made my second podcast recording. You can access it through Odeo. Podcasting is an interesting medium. The recording has to be a bit more linear than text (to make it easy to follow), but it allows for more tangent thoughts (or so it seems). I’m still not sure what I think about it, but playing with the technology is a great way to learn about it. John Updike’s speech. The Social Life of Books. The future of the book.

July 15, 2006. 8212; lauren pressley @ 8:35 pm. I’m playing around with the web component of my project. I originally planned to start by writing the paper and then do the website, but I think the website is giving me a good framework from which to write the paper, so I’m doing them concurrently. If you want to give me feedback during the process. The rapidly-changing web component is here. Leave a Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

weekly update | Exploring Media Literacy
https://exploringmedialiteracy.wordpress.com/2006/07/09/weekly-update-2
July 9, 2006. Filed under: emerging technology. 8212; lauren pressley @ 5:14 pm. So, my computer just ate my update! Rather, WordPress did. It’s nowhere to be found! So, what you find here is a much shorter, to the point, update than you would have gotten otherwise. 1 I’m not podcasting this week because I’m still getting my feet on the ground and it takes longer to do than a blog post– that is, unless your computer eats your blog post! 3 I’ve finally spent some time with Turkle and Mazlish. Particularly...

June 24, 2006. I’m in new orleans! Filed under: emerging technology. 8212; lauren pressley @ 6:56 am. Sue, did you make it in? Yesterday I attended a symposium. Dealing with the future of libraries (and therefore, the future of books). It was really interesting! My full notes are at the link above. Wonder what is in store for the nature of truth if the way we prove truth (linear, cause-and-effect experiments) is no longer mainstream. Two other take away points for this class:. August 20, 2006. 8212; lauren pressley @ 5:57 pm. CUI 688 wrapped up, and we’re already into the fall semester. The summer was surprisingly hectic for me, so I’m just now getting around to reflecting on the summer sessions. As always, I really, really enjoyed Bob’s class. I’m going to miss having the opportunity to take his classes, but I’m looking forward to possible future collaboration. As challenging as it was for me to get to Greensboro this summer, I wish I had been able to interact a little more&#...

Objects of Learning
Sunday, 13 April 2008. It's been too long since my last post - and this one's going to be fairly short! Several projects have been in their final stages ( MrCute. Was the biggest, which is a revised Repository system for Moodle, now released). Nice to see other people noticing when you've created something you feel is useful, so the MoodleMan blog entry (and video). On MrCute was welcome! Spent some time in India back in January - Kerala, in the South - wonderful place and people! Immersive 3d in learning.
