What is a hashtag? – Learning Technology Lizard's Blog
https://learningtechnologylizard.wordpress.com/2016/04/24/what-is-a-hashtag
Learning Technology Lizard's Blog. Sharing my ideas as a teacher with an inner geek. What is a hashtag? Social media has lots of jargon and three letter abbreviations. It’s a new language and of course that’s off putting. Those who understand it tend to throw the vocabulary around and that alienates those who are new to the scene. A number of my colleagues ask me what hashtags are so I wanted to explain and think it through. Hashtag has become a word that can enter conversation. But what is a hashtag?

Come check out my blog. http:/ lizard100blog.wordpress.com. Thank you Facebook for starting my day with a bang! Learning Technology Lizard's Blog. Sharing my ideas as a teacher with an inner geek. CSN2016 conference Leiden, The Netherlands. While presenting my Digital Toolbox at Friday’s CSN conference in Leiden, I was asked a really important question. What do I suggest for teachers using technology when it goes wrong and they feel disillusioned? Be honest with your learners, tell them that it’s an experiment and that you not sure whether it’s going to work. We know that the second time you do something that usua...

Learning Technology Lizard's Blog. Sharing my ideas as a teacher with an inner geek. Digital Collaboration with The Beatles. Technology is often implicated in discussions about creativity in a way that implies that tech isn’t. I’m not sure why that is. So often tech can be such an incredible platform to aid a creative process. And that’s where The Beatles came in recently. E: raise awareness and some money. Save the Children. A world wide charity organization. Here’s the evidence. June 20, 2016. Notify m...

Green Lizard's Blog. The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do. Look what I found. So its been a fairly weird season for vegetable gardening this year. January and February were so dry that the ground is more dusty than normal. It seems as if all the regular crops have been smaller than they usually are. Added to that, the sudden very hot weather we’ve had over the last few weeks which has setback planting out of many of our seedlings. So what is the gardener to do? You are...

Green Lizard's Blog. The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do. A few weeks ago I blogged about having reached that big landmark of 365 posts and then about what should happen next. Should I continue blogging every day. The response was mixed and my choice was a big lame. I carried on daily for a few more days and then missed one. So now I’ve become a more casual poster. I think that won’t last but it’s been a good reduction in postings. A welcome break. Take it with you:.

Green Lizard's Blog. The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do. Cauliflower pizza: my experience. Made the pizza with cauliflower. The recipe we used. The process was really good. I used a recipe that was dead easy. I will make it again because the toppings I used were a bit too moist. But all in allot wS good. It’s a microwave start with lots of grated cauliflower. It cooks in its own liquid. Several things are mixed in. Then I put it on a tray. It goes in the oven. You ar...

Green Lizard's Blog. The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do. The allotment has a lot of interesting things. The plants and bees are often the star of the show. But there are plenty of other residents. These amazing metallic bugs live on the mint plants. They’re called Blue mint beetles. Apparently the blue variety has only been recognised in the UK since 2011. Normally green ones are found on mint. We don’t see any leaf damage from ours. Then there’s this odd wasp. I hav...

Green Lizard's Blog. The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do. It’s a question of taste. A curious event has taken place. The resident chef’s works dinner. It was curious because it was great. Well for four years in his department he has had fairly challenging experiences when they go out for a meal. Typically the choice of restaurant is a place where there is a big meat attitude. Consequently the vegetarians always seem to be short changed. The evidence is clear. Darn mea...

Stuff that I’ve avoided. Meanwhile I like to be productive. So getting stuff done us something I really like. On Thursday I made a broad bean spread. On Friday I made macarons. On Saturday we made briquettes for the fire. Today I made a sheep or two. And an amazing new cauliflower curry recipe. Take it with you:. Truste...

Green Lizard's Blog. The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do. When we went to the amazing culinaire Werkplats. Last week, I commented on their tap water policy. I was so impressed with the concept I bought the bottle. Is a world wide organisation. Their aim is simple. They support and encourage the use of tap water and refillable bottles in a number of ways. Green Lizard's Blog. The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do. Follow that tree: July. The tree is still very green and the view is very peaceful. July almost passed me by. It’s so busy. The tree has some other neighbours periodically. The three local swans come down towards the tree via all the local ditches and drainage. They’re a majestic bunch. The water birds in the district are thriving. Those coots that I’ve posted before. The Egyptian geese are doing well too.
