Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Frozen Apple Pie Filling. With my abundance of apples I decided to make up a large batch of apple pie filling and freeze it for future use. It worked great and made the house smell amazing for the entire day! Here is the recipe I used. 24 cups sliced peeled apples. 2 cups white sugar. 2 cups brown sugar. Peel, core and slice apples. Monday, April 13, 2015. The Start of Gardening Season 2015. April 4th I got my first seeds planted. Peas, lettuce, spinach, kale and swiss chard. Thanks to my son Tony for snapping some pictures for me! I am so excited for the nicer weather and getting out and digging in the dirt. My wonderful husband got my garden all tilled up a couple weeks ago. I have added a new area along the edge of my original garden. I'm hoping to transplant some raspberry canes. Tuesday, April 7, 2015. My local Fareway had strawberries for $.99 lb. We use strawberries every day in our breakfast smoothies. I usually spend anywhere from $2-$2.50 per pound for frozen berries. Yesterday I bought 12 lbs of strawberries. If I had more freezer space I would have probably gotten more. I cleaned them, flash froze them, and placed them in a ziplock in the freezer. I was sold on them last year after using my in-laws during the canning season to process tomatoes. There is all sorts of fun attachments you can buy to help you do just about anything in the kitchen. When I started making my own bread. Here is the recipe I use. It will make 2 loaves. 1 1/2 cups warm water. 5-6 cups of all-purpose flour.
