Sunday, December 2, 2007. Install KDE on the Asus EEE pc. Before doing this, remove any repositories you may have added. You ONLY want to use the packages from the Asus update repositories. To do this: ctrl-alt-T, sudo kwrite /etc/apt/source.list. Put '#' (no quotes) in front of any repositories other than the Asus ones. Save and close. Then, sudo apt-get update. Enabling to full desktop mode (KDE). Open a console window (CTRL-ALT-T). Apt-get install ksmserver kicker. Restart (should go to Easy Mode).

Obtain a ISO or DMG of Leopard (I've heard "Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard [ToH]-RC2 SSE3/SSE2 Intel Only" works great and is available on something called "bittorrent". Burn the downloaded DMG file to a DVD (ofcourse). Configure your EEE pc to boot from USB by pressing F2 at boot and configuring the BIOS. Connect your external CD/DVD drive to the EEE pc and power on. From the boot screen the EEE press F8 for more options. Click on the tab labeled Partition.

Press F2 to get into the BIOS. Under the Advanced header, change. Installation from Finished to Start. Under the Boot header, choose Boot Device Priority, and make it so your USB external drive boots before the HDD. When finished, remove CD and reboot. You now have Ubuntu installed.
