Leaving The Buffet

Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Somewhere relegated to the far end of the buffet line are the desserts. Sweet morsels are nestled by the salad and condiments, demonstrating the importance of dessert to the buffet mentality. Buffets are all about volume. After we have stuffed ourselves on meats and breads we meander down to desserts, hoping to find some ice cream to top off our gluttony. But to the discerning diner dessert is the “coup de grace” (merciful death blow). Done in by chocolate. What a way to go.

Leaving The Buffet: January 2010

http://leavingthebuffet.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 27, 2010. So join me as we embark on a new spiritual diet. We may have to leave the buffet for a few weeks but it will be worth the effort. The end result is described in Hebrews 5:14, "But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil .". May we together become healthy, happy, and holy. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. We love our buffets in this country. It seems th.

Leaving The Buffet

http://leavingthebuffet.blogspot.com/2010/03/i-must-confess-that-i-have-entree-envy.html

Wednesday, March 10, 2010. I must confess that I have entrée envy. Going to a restaurant with me is an interesting and challenging activity. Let me stress never. Order the same entrée twice. Variety is the spice of life and I want my life as spicy as possible! Life is much simpler for Jan. She finds a food she likes and sticks with it. She may take a menu and pretend to consider other options but it is totally a ruse. She just cannot take the risk of ordering something that she may not like. Tonight we g...

Leaving The Buffet: February 2010

http://leavingthebuffet.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. The tranquility of my sleep was rudely disrupted by the blare of my alarm clock at five-fifteen this morning. Did I mention AM? I fumbled in the darkness, toying with the notion of destruction. However, I use my Blackberry as an alarm so I reconsidered that notion. I was left with several options at that point. I could push snooze for fifteen more minutes of rest and relaxation. I could reset the alarm for a reasonable time, say seven and get additional rest. But if you do n...

Leaving The Buffet

http://leavingthebuffet.blogspot.com/2010/02/there-is-phenomenon-that-is-sweeping.html

Wednesday, February 10, 2010. There is a phenomenon that is sweeping America. It is called, The Food Network. What makes this channel so remarkable is that it has found a home in the TV viewing habits of both men and women. Using competitions, like The Iron Chef, Iron Chef America, Chefs vs The City, and Chopped. Men have began to switch over when the coverage of interesting sports (football and baseball; nothing else counts that much) is diminished. The Best Thing I Ever Ate. An additional fact is equal...
