Our French garden in the beautiful Dordogne: Blue to Magenta
http://ourfrenchgarden.blogspot.com/2015/07/blue-to-magenta.html
Wednesday, 1 July 2015. The cardoon is starting to flower. The 'choke' takes on an almost electric quality somewhere between magenta and blue - luminous in the evening light and for a few short weeks my absolute favourite. The Scotch thistle, onopordum acanthium,. 4 July 2015 at 17:31. Oh it certainly sounds as if you are having a hot summer Rob. That lavender looks happy lapping up the sunshine and I imagine that the bees are enjoying it too. 5 July 2015 at 15:44. 17 July 2015 at 16:38. Thanks, and hope...

Our French garden in the beautiful Dordogne: May 2015
http://ourfrenchgarden.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, 31 May 2015. Seem pretty convinced we'll see temperatures between 36 and 38 degrees centigrade by the end of the week. That's 100 Fahrenheit! We will all melt. Heat and high humidity - a Spanish Plume. Hot unstable air drifting up from north Africa and southern Spain. There will be isolated thunderstorms too. I hope they miss. The garden could do with some rain. But lengthy moderate rainfall would be preferable to torrential thundery downpours though unlikely. Sunday, 10 May 2015. Rosa Allisar Pr...

Our French garden in the beautiful Dordogne: January 2015

Sunday, 11 January 2015. A Good Year For The Truffle. The second weekend into January and Sarlat celebrates all thing Truffle. The Fête de la Truffe is a major calender event and people descend from all over the world to be part of one of the best French traditions - to eat fine food and drink fine wine. It's hard work, but someone's got to do it. It's been a good year for the black Truffle of the Perigord. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Google Website Translator Gadget. Our French garden in the beautiful Dordogne: August 2014
http://ourfrenchgarden.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, 28 August 2014. Absolutely delighted to have my blog and garden featured in the Autumn issue of Living France. Magazine which is on sale now. You can see the page PDF here. Labels: living france magazine. Monday, 4 August 2014. It's been a long time, too long, since we visited the gardens at Chateau Marqueyssac. Last Friday however, we made a long overdue return visit to 'Les Jardins Suspendu' - the Hanging Gardens with panoramic views of the Dordogne valley. Unfortunately the 'phone's camera s...

Our French garden in the beautiful Dordogne: March 2015
http://ourfrenchgarden.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, 28 March 2015. Le Périgord in Spring. Spring has sprung and the Perigord is better for it. Hopefully we've had the last frost of any significance and no strong winds are forecast as the Peach blossom is about to open back at Le Banquet. Inclement weather cuts short pretty scenes such as the blossom in front of the church here at Castelnaud la Chapelle. Promise us more in the way of sunshine from the middle of next week though the temperatures won't be breaking any records. Jardins de la brande.

We just spent an incredible two week holiday in the southwest of France, and I’ve had quite a few requests for details, so I decided that rather than message everyone individually, I’d blog about it! Please feel free to share this with friends and comment if you have any other feedback or questions about what we did and how we did it. Getting There and Back.

Our French garden in the beautiful Dordogne: Foxtail lily
http://ourfrenchgarden.blogspot.com/2015/05/foxtail-lily.html
Sunday, 10 May 2015. They glow you know. Eremurus himalaicus. Anyway, such is the way of things. Well almost. That 'laissez faire' type statement belies my new motivation to grow Digitalis ferruginea as I need more spiky punctuation in my garden. Blame it on Dan Pearson. I've just been leafing through his book, The Garden (again) admiring this sun loving biennial that he planted with such aplomb at Home Farm many moons ago. 10 May 2015 at 22:33. 12 May 2015 at 17:50. 11 May 2015 at 07:37.
