History

A second meeting was held on Friday 17th October 1969, of which 60 people attended and David Selby chaired. A committee was formed, including a Chair Person, Treasurer and Secretary. Eventually Wilf Sugars and Tom Thom were co-opted to the committee, Tom served as Membership Secretary and Wilf as Chairman. The Long Eaton and District Art Club. Christ Church, Church Hall. Derby Road, Long Eaton. Between 7.30 and 9.30 pm. The venue is located on the corner of Derby Road and College Street, Long Eaton. Payable on 1st Wednesday in September.

As an art group we often take part in regular competitions and exhibitions both internal and external. Open days are held regularly which enable the general public to see what we are all about. The Wilf Sugars Rose Bowl Competition and Exhibition. An annual tribute to a past chairman of the club Mr Wilf Sugars. This takes part every Spring at Long Eaton's Town Hall and as the title suggests, a glass rose bowl trophy is to be awarded and kept on a yearly basis. Receive the club magazine free by email!
