Saturday, October 29, 2005. New Music and Art Festival. It's over. I just left the reception in the lobby after the sixth and final concert of the festival. All the composers are exhausted, and their sense of camaraderie is that much stronger now. For me, the experience as a whole was far more positive than last year's. Monday, February 27, 2006. Tonight is the first rehearsal for my choral piece, Returning. My friend Tammy is putting it on her graduate conducting recital. I actually wrote the piece in July. I wrote the poem myself, and set the words in a fictitious language. I primarily chose vowels and consonants that I wanted for each note, but I did put a lot of care into designing the "language" so it is not just gibberish. It sounds.
