One night he was a bit long in the washroom and I went to check. he was being hasseled a bit by some punks (not too seriouly) I come in and say "Ready to go Mr.Duff" and flashing my genuine RCMP key chain. The punks evaporated and Howard thought that very cool and subtle. If anything like Richard I found Howard a bit fragile. The Elephant Walk Club. The Elephant Walk was the top floor(photo by Patrick Cummins). The Elephant Walk was an infamous Black After Hours bar at Queen and Spadina. it was a den of thieves, pimps and dealers and you pretty well had to be black to get in and known about. it was the entire Top floor of a building and the only way up was a very narrow stairway with a clear view to the landing. they had a monstrous steel door and extreme security. I had a bad night there one time too. This me in that era.

Went to the premiere of Scanners with Michael Ironside and Alberta Watson, I brownbagged a bottle of Mum's champagne to celebrate Mike's first big movie. David's mother tried to repay some kindness showed by another schoolmate's mother by offering her one of David's oil paintings.
