Avenues of Awareness: September 2010
http://avenuesofawareness.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Hans (diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder holding. Ethan my son who is deaf-blind). There are however, protection issues that I can and do lend my support too. Real protection. All that being said, there are some really interesting statistics, and facts that I think would be really good for all of us to be aware of. Information that in a case of emergency could have a profound effect in our communities, and especially the families who have members with special needs.

As The Halo Turns: June 2008
http://thisblogs4me.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
As The Halo Turns. Sometimes I'm an angel, and sometimes I'm not. but if you ask my kids, they'll tell you I hung up my halo years ago. Sunday, June 29, 2008. The Bee officially turned 10 last week, and got her ten-year-old birthday party. Originally, she'd planned on having a "late over," but with the weather being so warm and summer-y she changed her mind to a "water party." So, the invitations went out to 8 little girls. The anticipation for the big day about did Bee in! We both just stared at each ot...

Avenues of Awareness: R-E-T-A-R-D
http://avenuesofawareness.blogspot.com/2010/08/r-e-t-r-d.html
Sunday, August 29, 2010. After we got our first wheelchair, for a long time it became really unbearable. Taking him to the grocery store, people would either look forward and not meet your eyes, or they would stare. Kids are the worst. They look scared, shocked, and nervous. And, quite frankly their parents don't know what to tell them or how to handle the situation. So, lets talk about it. Well that pretty much describes Ethan doesn't it? So why is this word so offensive to so many? I was the worlds wor...

Avenues of Awareness: So-- What do we say?
http://avenuesofawareness.blogspot.com/2010/08/so-what-do-we-say.html
Tuesday, August 31, 2010. So- What do we say? As I mentioned before one of the hardest things about day to day life with Ethan, are the stares and quick glances that we get when we are out in public. My first experience with this, was just after we brought Ethan home. I mean it, he looked really healthy and normal! Well, except that he was hooked up to three or four machines at a time. I laughed and giggled and said, "Why yes he does! So what do you do? What do we say? I would suggest to all those wonder...

As The Halo Turns. Sometimes I'm an angel, and sometimes I'm not. but if you ask my kids, they'll tell you I hung up my halo years ago. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Today is the first day in I-don't-know-how-long I've had the house to myself. I almost don't know what to do with myself! I can have the TV on any channel I want. I can use the computer when I want. I can put something away and it stays away. I can even run through the house naked if I were to choose to do so. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. The hou...

I look forward to the day when I can be at the temple with my family after it has been dedicated. It is probably several years away, but I dream of the day it will happen. Friday, January 16, 2009.
