John James Taylor Buttle. Tomo Antoine – Thomas Anthony. Lazare – Louis Lazzar. Brown’s letter – Dispatch #4. Report – BCHA – 1929. Unfortunately not much is known about him. Foley came from California to British Columbia in 1858, most likely with thousands of other American miners for the gold rush on the Fraser River. Report – BCHA – 1929. 1839 – 1891) was born at “Martin Falls” a HBC trading post, Ontario, Canada. He was a son of George Barnston (c.1800 – 14 March 1883), a well known HBC chief fur trader, and Métis Ellen Mathews (1815 –? Unfortunately not much is known about him. His father George was friends with Archibald MacDonald, also a well known HBC chief fur trader and father of Ranald MacDonald.

The parcels which are enclosed contain the prospects made by Mr. Foley. No 1 contains the result of 15 pans washing. No 2 contains the result of 2 pans washing.
