LEEDS FOOD LEADS: January 2012
http://leedsfoodleads.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Reviews of restaurants in Leeds (and sometimes elsewhere! Sunday, 29 January 2012. El Bareto, Chapel Allerton. A first for LEEDSFOODLEADS - A guest post by a mystery guest! Nevertheless, the warmth of the welcome and enthusiasm of the staff encouraged me to regard the surroundings as atmospheric rather than cramped and, indeed, after some more of the meaty house red, it became part of the conversation (try saying Lilliputian after a few drinks! To her credit, and possibly also because she was enjoying th...

Reviews of restaurants in Leeds (and sometimes elsewhere! Thursday, 31 May 2012. Frankie and Benny's, Kirkstall. Having said that, there was a children’s party going on when we walked in. But when the waiter who greeted us asked where we wanted to sit, A took the initiative and said “Not near them! 8221; Now that may seem rude to some, but the waiter laughed and took us to a quiet table near the kitchen, well away from the kids’ party. Served with some crispy fries, it was just right. A had 3 scoops of i...
LEEDS FOOD LEADS: November 2011
http://leedsfoodleads.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Reviews of restaurants in Leeds (and sometimes elsewhere! Saturday, 5 November 2011. The Living Room, Leeds City Centre. There’s a lot more to bar work than when I was a barmaid in 1990. In my day, when people asked what wine you had, it was either red or white, and it was served out of an optic over the bar (eeugh! For pudding, I ordered the cheese – a generous plate with oat crackers. Labels: Leeds city centre. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on twitter @LEEDSFOODLEADS. I like food. I like di...

Reviews of restaurants in Leeds (and sometimes elsewhere! Sunday, 4 September 2011. Go and try Create. Have a meal at Create. Support this fantastic new venture in Leeds. Book a table at Create. Not really, I just really enjoyed my first visit to Create a few Saturdays ago. I can’t remember how I stumbled across it – most likely on twitter. I had a good read of their website and perused their menu and decided a visit was definitely on the cards. For main, I ordered the free range chicken with wild mushro...
LEEDS FOOD LEADS: March 2012
http://leedsfoodleads.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Reviews of restaurants in Leeds (and sometimes elsewhere! Tuesday, 27 March 2012. A Nation of Shopkeepers, Leeds City Centre. This place used to be The Courtyard, which I remember vaguely as a place that played loud dance music and wasn’t really for us “student types” in the 1990s. Now it seems to be a far more relaxed bar that does good food. It also probably has the best outdoor area in Leeds. Some of the blokes in the group ordered the burger, and I have to say they looked pretty substantial! A Nation...

Leeds Foodie: Eastzeast - Riverside, Manchester
http://leedsfoodie.blogspot.com/2011/10/eastzeast-riverside-manchester.html
Everything food related in Yorkshire and further afield. Friday, 14 October 2011. Eastzeast - Riverside, Manchester. After going inside we enquired about a table for four to which we were told it could be up to a 20min wait. Whilst waiting we took a seat at the bar for a drink. The bar area was nice and airy with an intriguing frosted glass area, which was for private dining. The starters where brought out very fast, 3 Onion Bhajis (£2.95) and 1 Lamb Chops (£5.95). The lamb chops ha...In a larger map.
Leeds Foodie: May 2011
http://leedsfoodie.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Everything food related in Yorkshire and further afield. Sunday, 15 May 2011. The Leeds Kitchen By James Martin. Back in February regarding James Martin's new restaurant at Alea casino I thought it would be nice after a lazy Good Friday to see if all the hype was worth it. We still had room for a desert my partner chose the Cox's apple custard tart with Yorkshire clotted cream (£5.75) and I went for my favorite Classic sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce (£5.75). Unfortunately t...The bill came to ju...

http://leedsfoodie.blogspot.com/2011/02/all-bran-loaf.html
Everything food related in Yorkshire and further afield. Saturday, 26 February 2011. From time to time I get an urge to bake. I'm not a great baker but there are a few baked treats that I do amazingly well, even if I do say so myself! This recipe for All Bran loaf is great, there are just five ingredients, i dont use weighing scales just grab a tea cup or mug out the cupboard, mix everything up and pop it in the oven and it turns out great every time. 1 cup/mug All Bran. 1 cup/mug Self raising flour.
Leeds Foodie: Lily Kwok's Chinese Chicken Curry
http://leedsfoodie.blogspot.com/2011/03/lily-kwoks-chinese-chicken-curry.html
Everything food related in Yorkshire and further afield. Tuesday, 1 March 2011. Lily Kwok's Chinese Chicken Curry. I really enjoy a good curry whether its Indian or Chinese but trying to replicate them at home is fairly hard. I stumbbled across this recipe for Lily Kwok's chicken curry a few years ago. This is a fairly spicy curry as my sister will tell you (sorry sis), so adjust the amount of chilli's according to taste. 6 tbsp vegetable oil. 3 onions, finely chopped. 4 cloves garlic, sliced. 1) For the...

Everything food related in Yorkshire and further afield. Tuesday, 16 October 2012. Riverplate Steak House Leeds. 8220;A PLACE WHERE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE A TASTE OF EXCELLENT ARGENTINEAN FOOD”. And it certainly is! We bought a voucher from Living Social Leeds; the deal was steak lunch for two with a starter each for £25. I’m not typically a steak lover but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a good steak. When my partner and I arrived at Riverplate (With a pram and baby in tow! I ordered the Home-made Cho...

http://leedsfoodie.blogspot.com/2011/03/perfect-carrot-cake.html
Everything food related in Yorkshire and further afield. Wednesday, 2 March 2011. The Perfect Carrot Cake. Everyone loves a good carrot cake. It's one of those treats that you can kid yourself its healthy and can be counted as one of your five a day. Of course, you can use low-fat cheese or leave the cake unfrosted. It will still be delicious, personally I like it with out. 110g plain wholemeal flour. 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. 1 teaspoon ground ginger. 189; teaspoon nutmeg. 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda.

Reviews of restaurants in Leeds (and sometimes elsewhere! Saturday, 10 November 2012. Magpie Cafe, Whitby. On the Sunday before our return we visited the Magpie Cafe in Whitby.
