Later in the year, wild mushrooms come to market, then summer flowers from farms around Puget Sound. It is a wonderful place to get the freshest produce and a great variety of fish and exotic fruits. THE EARTH LAUGHS IN FLOWERS. This is a quotation from Ralph Waldo Emerson, which I think captures the wondrous feeling I have upon seeing vast fields of wildflowers. This detail of California Poppies shows a few flowers that were part of millions upon millions of blooming poppies in California’s Antelope Valley. There were so many bright orange flowers that I could see a faint orange tint reflecting off the clouds. LOCATION: Antelope Valley in the Mojave Desert, Southern California, USA.

While walking along a sidewalk late on an autumn afternoon, I noticed how the fallen leaves were casting wonderful shadows. WITNESS TO CREATION 1: When Elements Collide. We wanted to see the elemental sight of lava entering the sea, so we boarded a small boat with a guide, and sped over extremely choppy seas toward the location. We arrived at the scene at twilight, and the lava streams, explosively hitting the ocean, created a primeval glow in the clouds of billowing steam. It was unforgettable. There were even fireworks where explosions of molten rock occurred at the interface of hot lava and cool ocean. Photo size: 1.5.
