Thoughts and Events: Christmas traditions - old and new!
http://jessmarieblog.blogspot.com/2014/01/christmas-traditions-old-and-new.html
Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Christmas traditions - old and new! Christmas this year was great. We're at a great age as a family for loving Christmas and yet keeping it low-key and relaxing. We loved having Jozie home from school for almost two weeks. It was great for her and Haven to spend so many hours playing together like they're used to and to get to play outside a lot with friends! I don't know why Haven insisted on closing one eye! We decided to end the night with something new - a walk on the beach!

the Cairn Parenting Project: About Our Name
http://www.cairnparenting.org/2012/01/about-our-name.html
Thursday, January 12, 2012. Sometimes I (Jessica) feel like a wandering hiker as a parent. It's hard to know if the information I'm working off of or what feels instinctive to me is what will actually get our family where I want us to be down the road. I picture the contributors to this project- those who have already prepared and inspired their kids to reach the destinations described here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). the Cairn Parenting Project: Dad and His Daughters
http://www.cairnparenting.org/2013/04/dad-and-his-daughters.html
Saturday, April 27, 2013. Dad and His Daughters. What did Dad do to enrich his relationship with his daughters, and how do you think this affected them? The other daughter asked me to go on a choir tour with her to Disneyland in Florida. Then later we went to New York City and walked Manhattan Island and went to the Royal Ballet at the Met. We saw many other things in New England. The trips we took back east were in conjunction with my employment. When I would be require to be in Rhode Island, I'd do...

the Cairn Parenting Project: Disciplining Young Kids
http://www.cairnparenting.org/2013/04/disciplining-young-kids.html
Saturday, April 13, 2013. How did you gauge what discipline was age-appropriate for your young preschool age children, and how did you discipline without damaging your relationship or your child's feeling of being valued? The big key (which takes a great deal of self-mastery on the part of the parent) is to follow through consistently without getting angry.". Teaching is often a better approach than discipline, especially discipline administered in anger or frustration.". This is an important issue since...

the Cairn Parenting Project: Teaching Kids to Work
http://www.cairnparenting.org/2013/04/teaching-kids-to-work.html
Saturday, April 20, 2013. Teaching Kids to Work. How did you help your kids learn to enjoy work? How did you schedule this training into busy family life? The same way I enjoy work: worked along side them , or nearby (always when they were preschoolers); let them know their contribution really helped; played music, planned a treat or activity for when the work was done; and let them know I would repay the favor when they needed me to pitch in. When they were little we made up silly games - kids aren't ju...
