2016 Walk 8 – Ripon Rowell | Ramble On

https://lejog2010.wordpress.com/2016/06/17/2016-walk-8-ripon-rowell

Walking in Great Britain. 2016 Walk 8 – Ripon Rowell. June 17, 2016. A quiet stretch along the Ripon Canal. Despite considerable time spent planning my itinerary I somehow managed to book my accommodation such that I was forced to travel on a bank holiday Monday. What was I thinking? My next destination was Ripon. A 52-mile journey by car but a six hour odyssey by bus. The two hour drive to York. I’d never been to Ripon before and so I was keen to explore the area and walk part of the Ripon Rowell. And w...

Land’s End to John O’Groats ‘07

Land’s End to John O’Groats ‘07. That was the motto to us all beginning this challenge. That and Macca’s alcohol induced agreement to do the ride in the first place! The three of us, Nick, Macca and Rug boy all participated in the ultimate UK cycling challenge. Foolhardy or not, we managed it in the end. Just a couple of broken chains, punctures and missed turn offs, all ended well in the end. Welcome to the ride.

LEJOG2011 | wingmen in formation

Day 14 – Helmsdale to John O’Groats. We set off from Helmsdale (and the nicest B&B of the trip) rather late as we only had about 50-odd miles to do today and figured we could take it easy. Talk about underestimating it! The weather was really warm but a rather strong NE wind hampered our progress for much of the day and caused us to feel frustrated a few times, but we powered though and stopped at Wick for our last pit stop outside the country’s most northerly Tesco. We booked cabs for the next morning a...

Clown Running

Ramblings of a distance runner in a clown suit. Wednesday, 12 August 2015. NDW100 - Richard's Blog. This is my (ghost written) blog about the fun times I had on the North Downs Way this weekend. The race was pretty awesome and had some hills. I set out strong and managed to keep the pace going, despite the heat. After Claire congratulated me on holding on to my position throughout the race I mentioned that ". See you soon, and thanks to all the fantastic volunteers that helped and supported on the run.
