Has anyone ever picked lice, one by one, out of a child’s head? That’s just silly when you have that special shampoo and a washing machine. But oh, the adventures of the Peace Corps. I love my girls dearly, but today was lice picking day. The poor girl, her head was covered. Now I need to go stand under the scalding hot shower…just incase.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010. The time has come; Jake and I leave Ibarra next Monday, to fly out of Quito on Friday, May 28th. I have probably all the usual things to say: that I can't believe it, that we will miss it so much, that saying goodbye is awful, and that we are excited still for what lies ahead. Monday, April 12, 2010. Stalin and I receive our certificados at the end of the conference. I spent last week in Guayaquil. Big, sweaty, sketchy, Guayaquil. Thursday, April 29, 2010. 4 years ago today. Erin and I were wed on a rainy Saturday on Mercer Island. Today we are celebrating our "fruits and flowers" anniversary by visiting a cheese factory outside Ibarra. It also strikes me as odd that our time in the Peace Corps has been almost half our marriage. We are mindful that our relationship doesn't exist in a vacuum and are thinking of family and friends today who were supportive of us four years ago and continue to nurture us today.
