50 Sheep For Every Orc. Tom's Travels in Middle Earth. 12th May, 2009. Amend “some rain” in my last post to read “lots of rain.” As in randomly throughout the day every day. This is the most unstable weather I’ve ever seen. Laquo; I’m on a Boat. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. 50 Sheep For Every Orc. Tom's Travels in Middle Earth. 26th April, 2009. There and Back Again. I’m back in Auckland after an amazing two week long South Island adventure. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I visited cities, towns, remote sheep stations, and mountain trails. I learned to drive on the left side of the road. I even flew a plane. I have plenty of pictures so let’s get started. I hope you’re sitting down. 4/6: On to Queenstown. 4/7 – 4/9: The Routeburn Track. By early a...

50 Sheep For Every Orc. Tom's Travels in Middle Earth. 30th March, 2009. Slow and Steady…. Distance racing adds spice to any sailing career. Sometimes you just need to sail a race where major tactical decisions are made hours in advance, rather than boatlengths. My first attempt to do some distance racing in Auckland ended in a high winds cancellation and a wild ride. Among others. If it wasn’t for a wind hole within sight of the finish we might have pulled off first. Posted in Around Auckland.

50 Sheep For Every Orc. Tom's Travels in Middle Earth. 8th March, 2009. You might notice the subtitle of this blog. “Godzone” is a name some Kiwis use for their home. It’s derived from “God’s Own.” I see what they mean now. I went on my first “tramping” trip this weekend, the Auckland University Tramping Club (AUTC)’s annual orientation trip. 27th February, 2009. Men (and Women), Ships, and the Sea. What do you do when the overnight race you were supposed to go on was canceled due to a gale warning?

50 Sheep For Every Orc. Tom's Travels in Middle Earth. 5th May, 2009. I’m on a Boat. A one-design fleet RAYC members own and let us use. Let it never be said that all sailors are sane. Counting the academy’s two boats, we’re expecting a pretty competitive fleet of about 6-8. Our coach shot some video Saturday which you can find here. You can also get more of my thoughts on the program on my sailing blog. Laquo; There and Back Again. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Laura (Dunedin, NZ).

https://tcenzed.wordpress.com/2009/06/11/still-here
50 Sheep For Every Orc. Tom's Travels in Middle Earth. 11th June, 2009. I’ve raced on sailboats plenty of times in Auckland, but had not done much cruising until a few weekends ago, when I went on a Tramping Club trip organized by Andrew, who owns Young 88 Hull #2 and an aluminum powerboat dubbed “Tinny.” On Friday night we met at Half Moon Bay Marina to the southeast of the city and departed for Motuihe. A small near-shore island in the Hauraki. Later we went boating with the dolphins. That afternoon we...
