http://montanaofthemidwest.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Montana of the Midwest. Tuesday, December 13, 2011. RUSH OF THE FLUSH! Well Denali's leg is finally back to 100% after he twisted his leg pretty good in early October. He was very excited and worked very well pheasant hunting this past weekend. Dry, cold and windy conditions doesn't make for ideal upland hunting conditions but He managed to put up four birds (3 roosters and 1 hen). I am shooting a Remington Wingmaster 870 this year and love it. By far the easiest pump shotgun I have ever swung! Frogs - I...

http://montanaofthemidwest.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Montana of the Midwest. Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Black Earth Creek Cutt-Bow? This time I did have a camera with me. This was at least the third trout I have caught showing these marks. I have spoken with a number of other people at "On The Creek" (best shop around) fly shop here in Cross Plains that have observed the same thing. I just think that is very interesting. Sunday, May 22, 2011. Let the injury heal and back to chasing large trophy fish. Friday, May 20, 2011. The degradation of the driftless?

http://montanaofthemidwest.blogspot.com/2012/03/3-10-2012.html
Montana of the Midwest. Saturday, March 10, 2012. Got out today for 2 hours and it was a total bust! Caught four 13 inch browns. Wind drove me nuts. Guests had to have gotten to 40 mph. The high sun also didn't help but whatever I did find some nice spots to jump shot ducks this fall. After that I just drove around to do some scouting. Found one new stream that might have some potential but we will see. On a side note I did see a Fisher Cat! I hope I can get out and fish tomorrow night for and hour or two.

Montana of the Midwest: Year round fishing and no trout stamp?
http://montanaofthemidwest.blogspot.com/2012/03/year-round-fishing-and-no-trout-stamp.html
Montana of the Midwest. Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Year round fishing and no trout stamp? Some interesting questions will be rised during this years spring hearings. One of these topics will be to get rid of the salmon and trout stamp program and just roll these costs into one fishing license fee. They are also looking into having no closed gamefish season. And not to mention a Sandhill Crane hunt. What are your thoughts? More info at the link below. March 14, 2012 at 6:27 AM. March 15, 2012 at 7:19 PM.

http://montanaofthemidwest.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Montana of the Midwest. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Streams are high and dirty. All streams in Iowa and Western Dane county that I checked are high and muddy. The success of opening weekend all depends on the weather Friday. If we get a good rain on Friday 90 percent of the streams and rivers will be high and dirty. Let's hope for a little snow or for this system to miss us. They are calling currently calling for a windy opening day with winds gusting to 25 mph. Monday, February 27, 2012. They also hav...

Montana of the Midwest: Stream conditions update
http://montanaofthemidwest.blogspot.com/2012/03/stream-conditions-update.html
Montana of the Midwest. Thursday, March 1, 2012. Checked 4 streams today in Western Dane County and I'm happy to say that conditions have improved! 3 or the 4 stream only had a slight stain but fishable. We are under a winter storm watch for Friday with 4-8 inches of snow forecasted. I am happy to hear snow and not another dousing of rain that would threaten the opener. It will be very interesting to see how active the fish will be since we have been under a very active weather pattern this week.

Aug 2, 2010. Mouse fishing tips from New Zealand - Some Words From Carl McNeil of Once in a Blue Moon. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon McNeil's Mad Mouse. Carl sent me some great mouse fishing wisdom from the other side of the planet. The mouse fishing sequences in Carl's movie Once in a Blue Moon are truly incredible. In one scene Carl mouses up a big Rainbow in broad daylight. Anyhow here are some tips on tying mouse patterns and fishing them courtesy of Carl McNeil. The retrieve is all important when ...
