Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Sept 23 -24 Ft. Pierce to Vero Beach. The truck advertising Ft. Pierce marina's tiki bar blended well with John. The marina is a 2 block walk from downtown. Public art was everywhere. The mosaic benches lined the downtown streets. Looks like he's headed to the rose. Manatees are not a boaters favorite, because the beauracrates think they can read the "Manatee Zone -Slow Speed " signs and only swim in the right areas. But I guess they can paint. Friday, September 10, 2010. Sept 3-5 Steinhatchee-Cedar Key. We traveled 20 miles to Carabelle. The kickoff point for crossing the " Big Bend. The next day the Gulf was lake glass, perfect for our 80 mile crossing to Steinhatchee. John, our favorite son, met us in Steinhatchee. Scalloping season was in full swing. Flats boats were the boat of choice in the Shallow waters of Steinhatchee. Cedar Key, a quaint artist community had no dockage. The water is very shallow during high tide and non existent.

Monday, September 13, 2010. Sept 9-13 Indian Rocks Beach to Sarasota Yacht Club. John's cousins, Sherri, Mary Ann and Heather came to visit while in Indian Rocks . Cousins Mark and Jimmy. Vicky got a chance to drive the boat through our dating waterway. Spent John's birthday with his brother Tom and Sister-in-law Gretchen. And of course, their skipper key, foxy. Happy Birthday as we left Pass-A-Grille. John remembered the ruins of the fort at Egmont. The sea plane whizzed. Sunset brought a few blackbirds.

Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Sept 22- The Okeechobee Waterway. The trip through the lake was quiet. Lots of sugarcane growing everywhere. For miles, and since we travel at 10 to 12 miles an hour, HOURS. Nothing but blue skies. We were fortunate that the Lake was so peaceful and our travels around the loop were not delayed by the weather. We were reading in the Looper. News, others Great Loop travelers could only boat on Lake Michigan 4 days of the last 16 because that's. Our very last lock of the trip.
