Why do I blog? David Malouf: Remembering Babylon. I read this a while ago, but I am still haunted by this fictional journal entry, from a fictional Anglican minister, in a fictional white settlement in 1840s’s Queensland:. We have been wrong. Is there not a kind of refractory pride in it, an insistence that if the land will not present itself to us in terms that we know, we would rather die than take it as it is? How I wish that this character were true, and that his hopes for his new home had come true.
Musical highlight of 2015 | Akrokorinth
https://alisonmoffitt.wordpress.com/2015/06/12/musical-highlight-of-2015
Why do I blog? Musical highlight of 2015. This year I have excessively enjoyed listening to The Decemberists’ new album W. Hat a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. Please enjoy this music video of their song. Which also incorporates Nick Offerman in a state of unrequited love and ridiculous 1970s aesthetics. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. The Grand Tour | Akrokorinth
https://alisonmoffitt.wordpress.com/2015/08/03/the-grand-tour
Why do I blog? Our Grand Tour wrapped up two weeks ago and it was incredible. Lots of people have asked me about our highlights – one amazing thing that happened, or a shortlist of the places we liked best. My usual answer has been that the whole trip was a highlight: everything we saw and smelled, tasted and heard was so beautiful and overwhelming, that every day was just as wonderful as the last. We scheduled rest days. We made time to see friends. It was important for us to leave space in our itinerar...
Trumpets and Bookmarks | Akrokorinth

Why do I blog? When people ask me what my favourite kind of music is I am usually stumped for an answer. How do you choose when there is so much amazing music in the world? On reflection though, I’ve realised that throughout my life, running across all my eccentric musical tastes, there is one common thread. One sound that binds a million disparate genres, tempos and moods together. I love music with trumpets. Of some of my most-loved songs, all featuring horns of some kind. For the gifs at the top!

Why do I blog? In lieu of any serious posting here, I present to you this excellent YouTube video, which brings together both a #1 Mark Ronson chart topper. And Strong Bad’s #1 Summer Jam. If you have never heard of Strong Bad it’s probably because you didn’t watch flash videos on dial up internet in the early 2000s. Oh well. I hope you still enjoy this very excellent mash up video. Why do I blog? In three weeks something very exciting is happening: Matt and I are going to Europe. We are going to explore four different cities, and we are going to see friends and, most excitingly, we are going to witness our friends’ wedding in the north of Italy. At first it was stressful, but as we began to book flights and places to stay… it started getting fun! How will it feel? What do we need to take to navigate our way through foreign countries? It will be weird to come back home and to not be...

Holy Saturday | Akrokorinth
https://alisonmoffitt.wordpress.com/2015/04/04/holy-saturday
Why do I blog? What a weird and bizarre day it is, to think that this very day one thousand, nine hundred and eighty years ago to the day, the fourth of April in AD 33, in the middle of the Passover festival, Jesus was dead. His body was cold in a tomb. He was dead. I kept catching myself in the middle of doing something normal – drinking my cup of tea, checking my phone, brushing my teeth – and then feeling like normal things are completely inappropriate for Holy Saturday. Jesus was. Not being dead,.

Graham Kendrick’s song ‘Beauty for Brokenness’ was commissioned by the charity Tearfund to mark its 25th Anniversary. Reflections for Lent Year B. Published by the Archdiocese of Brisbane. Available worldwide. At the end of the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus asks the lawyer: Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers? Four walls and ceramic furniture. Saturday, 11 April 2009. What happens is I go to the room and I can see it. It’s visual.
