My first career was as a professional musician (for 20 years). I had the opportunity to meet and work with some great musicians as well as travel around the world. I think the first time I wanted to become a drummer was watching my father,. Backstage at the Showboat hotel in Las Vegas with the Les Brown Band of Renown. He was doing a drum solo with bright fluorescent orange-painted drum sticks under black lights (it was the 60s), which made his hands look like they were on fire. Here's a cute puppy video.
