Pen the Tale: March 2008
http://simridavis.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 16, 2008. Out of sheer need to get something else up here, I now share some photos. A bit of boredom played out in hairdos. Yeah, yeah, I know he's a boy. It's still cute. A little Church Easter Eggstravaganza fun. Posted by Pen the Tale. Thursday, March 06, 2008. I cannot believe we are having two huge snow events in one week in March in Texas! We just came back in from playing in the falling snow. I cannot explain to you how HUGE the clumps of snow are right now. Posted by Pen the Tale.

http://chavard.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 24, 2008. Our church held its second Hope and Healing Service this morning. This is a service for couples dealing with infertility or loss of a child. It was, once again,. From the testimonies to the worship (worship was lead by a super talented lady who had just had another adoption fall through this week. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 in. All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! I think we are attracted to and in awe of s...

Mind Vitamins: What if?
http://chavard.blogspot.com/2008/07/what-if.html
Tuesday, July 29, 2008. V 16 - Paul says that he strives to keep a clear conscience before God and men. That is. Difficult. What if we did this every day? What if I did this everyday? What if I could do this everyday for a month (or a year! What if everyone in my church did this for a month? What would marriages look like a month from now? What would families look like at the end of that month? How would small groups be different? How would offices operate differently? What if every time. V 27 - 2 years?

Mind Vitamins: Dead Man Walking
http://chavard.blogspot.com/2008/06/dead-man-walking.html
Thursday, June 12, 2008. 10-14 - a prophet named Agabus. Comes and gives Paul a visual warning of what awaits him in Jerusalem. Paul's response? 20-26 - Staying the course? This implies Paul was backing down on his stand that men are saved by grace and not by observing the law (see Galatians). However, this is not the case. These 4 guys were wanting to take a Nazarite. How far should we go to persuade someone who is not a follower of Christ that we are "cool? What are the things we will not bend on?

Mind Vitamins: Paul's Day(s) in Court
http://chavard.blogspot.com/2008/09/pauls-days-in-court.html
Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Paul's Day(s) in Court. 25 - this chapter basically shows how Paul was treated like a carnival act - brought out, retried, and re-questioned. V27 - another tip on sharing our faith. At some point in the conversation (by "the conversation," I mean an ongoing conversation. Him in public with this question/challenge). It is not enough for someone to intellectually assent to the truths about Christ - there must be a time when that person. V 32 - awwww. Been released at this point,...

Mind Vitamins: And you are....???
http://chavard.blogspot.com/2008/05/and-you-are.html
Friday, May 16, 2008. 1-7 - another very confusing passage (on the surface). The key is to understand who these guys were that Paul was talking to. Verse 1 says they were "disciples." Our brains read that as followers. This passage also brings up some other noteworthy points:. Receiving the Holy Spirit - once again, we see another pattern. These guys get the Holy Spirit pretty much right after their decision and baptism as Paul (an Apostle) lays hands on them. Is this passage just describing what...Tongu...

Mind Vitamins: January 2008
http://chavard.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 31, 2008. Chpt 5 - It's Tough Being the Leader. Chpt 7-8 - Why 12 Plagues? One other point here: as one reads about the 12 plagues, you see this back-and-forth between Pharaoh hardening his heart (mostly) and God hardening Pharaoh's heart (a couple of times). It brings up the age old question of God's will: do we have free will to make decisions or does God force decisions on us. The answer I've come to is "yes." Did Pharaoh harden his heart toward God and the Israelites? First, we are ...

Mind Vitamins: April 2008
http://chavard.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 11, 2008. Control of our lives. The world counts this as a dirty word. And it does go against everything in our flesh. The #1 sin of all time is pride - the desire to be the decision-maker (see Adam and Eve and Lucifer/Satan). However, this is a necessary ingredient to be a follower of Christ. What does this have to do with Timothy in 16:3? Timothy submits his will and allows himself to be circumcised. That would be a big deal today with hospitals, doctors, anesthesia. Enough to think how m...

Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Paul and You - Not That Different. I think I notice first the differences between myself and someone who is not a follower. Instead, I should seek to pursue common ground. Paul was chosen by God - there's no question the Bible teaches that you are chosen as well (see Eph. Paul was chosen to know God's will - again, this applies to us as well. Paul was chosen to see the Righteous One - Paul (when he was Saul). You will be my witnesses to all men of what you have seen and heard.

Pen the Tale: October 2009
http://simridavis.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 28, 2009. One of the most beautiful expressions of child-like faith is when my children ask simple, probing questions that touch on the eternal. Their hearts are pondering truths that are not too far off from our seasoned thoughts; we all want to know God - know about Him. I smile because I love to hear my children try to explain the unexplainable. How do we get to God? And that is where I express my faith, by trusting the God who made them to be the God who saves them. And it's Je...
