Southworth Notes: December 2012
http://southworthnotes.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 27, 2012. It was fun to see how excited Preston and Taylor were for Christmas this year.they are at just the age when everything is magical. (I'm not sure that they understand the concept of giving a gift to someone else. But they knew that there were presents that they could open themselves. Then Jenni got really freaked out.Taylor, however, had a grin on his face the whole time and was enjoying the backwards slid immensely.). We pulled into the Alpental parking lot and were glad to s...

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. I have been very remiss about posting on my blog this past year. It just seems like I always have too many other things to do. I won't even try to catch up, but rather just post about the past few days, and a couple of highlights from November. Our new Stake President is Trevor Williams, who was Ron's second counselor. While all of our kids were home (for only 2 days! I supposed that every family has a ham.that would be Jenni. On Christmas Eve, Ron and I drove to North Bend ...

Thursday, May 29, 2014. Getting out of "Dodge". Ron and I so rarely have time to get away.usually only a day here and there, so we try to take advantage of those short time periods as best we can. It's what we call "Getting out of Dodge." Ron will usually ask me "Shall we go north or south? I always answer "North." .less traffic, less people, and the scenery is beautiful. Tuesday, May 27th was a day that we had a few hours, so off we went. And you know me, I always take my camera with me. Below: the Admi...

Friday, July 5, 2013. Oregon Lighthouse Tour - - Part 2 of our 40th Anniversary. Ron got a fantastic shot with the beams of light shooting out. (I'm not posting his picture here, because he wants to put it on his website for sale.it is really good! Http:/ www.ronsouthworth.com/lighthousegallery.htm. The first thought that came into my mind as we saw this incredible light shining in the darkness, was the hymn "Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy.". Let the lower light be burning, Send a gleam across the wave.

Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Life on the Beach. My mom is always such a good sport.she loves to go an any adventure, and having just gotten back from spending time in Southern Utah with Uncle Ed Cook where the temperatures were over 100 degrees, she was excited to spend a week in the cool climate at the coast. Emmy tried her hand at flying the kite as well. The entire family got into the act of trying to get the kite into the air. Michael finally got it in the air! 65279;. We drove over to the other side ...

Thursday, January 30, 2014. Ron and I have. Created a new gallery on his website called "Digital Artistry." We are taking photographs and turning them (digitally) into artwork, that resembles different forms of art medium.such as oil painting, watercolors, line and ink drawings, and others. I think they are turning out fantastic! Here are few examples:. It has opened up an entirely new area of creativity and I'm loving every minute of it. It makes me want to go out and take some more pictures! 8220;I fou...

Saturday, May 26, 2012. Evening on Whidbey Island. There was a beautiful (and big! Sailboat that had dropped anchor in the bay (which is called Penn Cove). The owners were relaxing on deck and enjoying the warm afternoon. Mt. Baker was in and out of the clouds all afternoon. We walked on the beach under the dock to take pictures, until the incoming tide drove us back to shore. Wow, can that tide move fast! As we were standing there taking a few photos, you could actually see the water level rise. I love ...

Southworth Notes: June 2012

Monday, June 4, 2012. The term "point and shoot" refers to a small digital camera, that requires nothing more than clicking a shutter to take a picture. However, when I use that term in this instance, it entails a LOT more. Will's mother Sandy made Jenni's dress. Jen had ordered a couple of dresses, and neither one of them looked like she was hoping. So, showing a photo to Sandy (who came up and spent a weekend with Jenni and Will) they re-created the dress from scratch. It turned out fabulous. At 5:00 p...

Monday, January 28, 2013. Ron and I hope to photograph several lighthouses in Washington this year. However, a lot will depend on the weather and the price of gas. (right now the price ranges from $3.20 - $3.59) We took the above photo of the Mukilteo Lighthouse on January 14th.it was about 20 degress, so even though the sun was shining, it was freezing outside! Thursday, January 17, 2013. I found those words that I had written so many years ago, to be very in sync with my feelings today. There can.
