Light Matter Research: Painter as Gardener
http://lightmatterresearch.blogspot.com/2009/12/painter-as-gardener.html
Investigations into visual phenomena and systems of order. Monday, December 28, 2009. This past spring, I became determined to fight and conquer the dandelions in my yard. As a result, I had become hyperaware of their growth patterns and because of the hours I was spending out there, the yard became my favorite spot to daydream about painting. It dawned on me, in the garden, that I need to touch the paint the same way I touch my houseplants. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). History of abstract painting.

Investigations into visual phenomena and systems of order. Monday, September 21, 2009. Geometric Abstraction and Minimalism were dominant movements in 20. Century painting. Formalist thinkers such as Clement Greenberg encouraged “art for art’s sake”, removing any kind of image content latent with cultural baggage or any kind of meaning outside of the artistic object itself. Linda Nochlin argues that:. Clement Greenberg] was right when he declared that painting was developing in the direction of. Reductio...

Investigations into visual phenomena and systems of order. Sunday, November 8, 2009. Char Davies: Layers of Reality. Virtual reality project ". Investigations into visual phenomena and systems of order. Sunday, November 15, 2009. Mental Exercises on the Bus. One thing I figured out about myself when I was living on my own in Montreal was that I function better with weekly rituals. On Saturdays, I would take the number 80 bus down Avenue du Parc instead. I would get off at Place des Arts and march down Sainte Catherine, blowing, swirling, and ducking past shoppers and tourists that are in my way, complicating my path. I would tell myself that mat...
